One man's humble opinion....

I think when these troubled guys come to NE, they get amnesty for the stuff they did before arriving - BUT they better shape up while they're here. So the rape lawsuit, while AB was here when it was filed, involved activity from years ago. These texts, however, happened Wednesday. So after being read the riot act when he arrived, he still sent those texts. So that gets him cut.

I think it actually takes a lot to get cut from the Patriots for this kind of thing. Josh Gordon's still here (though I suspect he walked away last year with the blessings of his teammates and coaches). Patrick Chung and Duron Harmon are still here. Ty Law, Kevin Faulk. Lots of guys with lesser or greater criminal complaints and stuff that the team just let blow over and never really reacted to.

Brown still gonna get that ring :)
He was certainly a game changer in Miami. Brady can’t win in Miami without AB to bail him out. Rodgers doesn’t need AB to win in Miami.

The Brown roller-coaster:

When he mouthed his way out of Pittsburgh, I didn't like it, but with Bell doing the same thing, I figured there was an issue with that team.

When he went nuts to get out of Oakland, I thought it pathetic - and dangerous for the league. They'll be the NBA if they allow that kind of thing. The LEAGUE needs to step up and prevent it from happening again, imo.

That said, at that point, I understood the Pats grabbing him before the Chiefs could, and at pennies o the dollar. They insist that they knew nothing about the coming allegations, and despite the loudmouths of the media, I have seen no evidence that they knew. I hope they didn't.

Once those came out, the team took a wait-and-see, and I agree with that, too. Then the SI story came out and it became clearer and clearer that this guy is a real piece of work and probably needs help.

THEN, NOW, the moron goes and group texts threatening (and yes, they were exactly that) messages to a woman who was unnamed, who wasn't pressing any charges, who wasn't suing Brown or asking for money.

F*** him and good riddance to bad rubbish!

What did Harmon do?

So Dorsett has now, once again, gone from being a deadly bonus as a #4 WR to an important and needed #3WR. On its own, that's not a problem. The problem comes in with the following:

Harry - on IR, and hasn't proven a damned thing yet
Meredith - still unavailable, and hasn't had the work with Brady
Meyers - huge question mark.

So..... Anyone know how we can get DeAndre Hopkins really pissed off at the Texans?

I mean dorsett is gonna have to step up now. Hopefully Gordon as well . I know what we are gonna get from julien Edelman. Our defense will keep us in games but the passing game has to be sharp.

EXACTLY!!! People in this goddamn thread are acting like the Patriots gained something by subtraction here, and we are absolutely worse for this move.

Every single fan forum of teams in the AFC are breathing a collective sigh of relief right now, knowing that they actually have a chance to beat us without that guy. Just checked the stage 4 terminal cancer known as Chiefs Planet and they are climaxing right now. I cannot believe the Pats just gave what everyone wanted. We damned sure didn't cut Brady for Deflategate or fire Bill for Spygate, and this has just about the same amount of evidence as those did-- NOT A SHRED.

No conviction. No ruling. No exemption list. But we jut let go of a generational player because of a text message. This isn't Ray Rice. We don't have evidence for what's being claimed. But because he sent a text message we release him? I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing what's going on here.

I already responded to your earlier post. There is ample evidence that has been documented in police reports and court filings. Your claim of "NOT A SHRED" of evidence is entirely inaccurate.

Brown was told not to contact his accuser(s) and after this order he did, in fact, contact his accuser, and when he did so, he sent photos of her children and told her that Eric B. was coming to dig up dirt on her.

Seems fairly cut-and-dried to me.

What did Harmon do?

Got caught with a bunch of weed in Costa Rica or whatever while on vacation with his family a couple summers ago. No big deal and obviously the team didn't care, but there was a solid contingent of Pats Fans Dot Com Posters (TM) not only calling for him to be cut, but claiming he would be locked up in federal prison for decades.

They haven't paid him the money. The signing bonus wasn't due until Monday.
the question is the cap space. I doubt many care how much money Kraft shells out

BTW, not to toss out an "I told you", but as a general "Damn it!", the potential of this happening is a big part of why I didn't want Thomas traded away.

This team is currently less stacked at WR/TE than it was last year from week 4 on, until Gordon got suspended.

But the thing is the text messaging to an opposing party, not even for Brown, could not have been expected?. IMHO without this messaging there's a really good chance it blows over. Nobody was going to be asking for him to be jailed and key thrown away because an appropriately placed towel. And the other lawsuit, at face value, seemed full of holes. He just had to play football and let his high priced attorneys deal with the rest. Again I think this would have blown over. Shocking even for him to have done this utterly incredibly massively shockingly stupid move that is the reason he is an ex-Patriot.
As far as short? yep you're right. I would have rather kept DT too but the numbers game was wrong to keep DT. For me, in a moment of I told you so:) , the lack of addressing TE goes back to the draft thread. But with that said, Patriots aren't stuck in the mud by a mile. This is still a good O and a good D.....just less so without AB and the potential that DT could have brought.

Drew Rosenhaus...is that you ?

Huh, sorta sounds familiar.

Have you not yet figured out after all these years that when the patriots make decision that seems unusual it’s only because you don’t know the facts?
Weren’t you the guy who complained when they released Hernandez?

Deciding question for me is how good the defense is. Bears won 12 games with Trubisky with the #1 defense.

If we have the #1 defense we will be more than fine.

Brown is done. Ramsey might very well happen though.

It could happen but do the Chiefs bother now that Brown has been released?

Might be something else coming down the pike.

My instinct is they met with him after practice to discuss his behavior and the leagues response and he pulled something along the lines of (consistent with how he has handled everything else) “ain’t no one telling me what the f I can do, you can’t stop me from texting, I don’t need this crap.”
Then he was gone
Andy you could be right who knows with this crazy drama. I think the
Patriots had to release him to protect their brand. Up until the latest tweet they could say it was not under their watch. This one was. They come out looking like they did the right thing. My guess is the NFL is going to have to follow suit or their brand is going to take a hit now that the team that keeps their players in line could not corral him. I think it might be what both of us has implied. This kid is off the rails

For the love of all things holy, never ever give out #17 to any wide receiver any again...

Cursed.
