Fair points, but it's ultimately up to the discretion of a judge. A judge isn't obligated to grant a restraining order.
Obviously a judge can do whatever they want but in a case where the woman wants a non-contact restraining order and the 2 parties otherwise have no relationship whatsoever, I cannot imagine her not getting it.

Civil attorneys embellish and attempt to gain leverage in cases. It is what they do. Sit in a civil discovery dispute, and you will find the word 'outrageous' thrown around frequently. If a communication with an attorney is made public (non-privileged as the statement is spoken to others), and may be evidence later, then that attorney may have to withdraw from a case if called as a witness.

Brown is a public figure worth millions. There is a reason we don't enter civil judgments based on uncontested "click bait" in articles. There is a reason why hearsay is scrutinized, and frequently inadmissible, as evidence. There is a reason why testimony is subject to cross-examination under oath at trial. The reason is witnesses often wilt and become absolutely unbelievable when the right questions are asked. The worst, most horrible claims often become explicable and false in depositions and testimony.

If you know nothing of the person making an adverse statement, and that statement profits the declarant with publicity or possible financial return, then the prudent person asks why. At this point, Brown can be as horrible as he is painted to be, a complete victim, or something in between. Following hit piece articles that serve the publisher given Brown's unpopularity will not answer the question of what did or didn't happen.

Did he threaten this woman? Tell me what he did? All he did was say get someone to investigate her background and said she was broke. He never threaten her.

He put her children at risk.

Anyone has a right to file a complaint with the police, but it doesn't mean that the police have to act on it, and I doubt they would in this situation.

It simply isn't worth the time or effort. She's better off complaining to the League. If I were her, I would do the same.
He did not threaten anyone at all that I can tell. BUT he is being a stupid distraction.

Personally (unless he is actually guilty of rape or violence) I want him on the team. I will just watch on Sundays with the sound down so I don't have to hear this stuff all the time.

Take his phone, take his Access Point, etc. Early bed time, whatever... But please score 40+ every week or even 50 and then they will be forced to talk about the football

Agree he needs someone to watch him like we did with Gordon a personal team.

You think the police investigate intimidating texts? They dont
They will help you get a restraining order.
What do you think they should do? Lock him up?
Why go to the police? Because you want to have the person stop contacting you. What “investigation” are you looking for?

Patriots though will look at this like he did something incredibly stupid as a Patriot it's a little bit different now.

The patriots just need to put a gag on brown. Was it stupid to send messages to this woman? Absolutely. Should he suspended over it? Heck no! I would be irritated if i am getting blasted by all these hit pieces but brown should shut up. He has no to blame but himself.

He’s an ass but the guy’s defending himself from the story this woman put out in SI.

Man please stop defending this low-life. Not everyone that plays for the Patriots is a good guy unfortunately. Be a goddamn human being and not a homer.

How? Tell me? It was a private message.

the fact that it was private is not the reason he is innocent. He is "innocent" of "threatening" anyone because he did not threaten anyone in the text.

When I first saw the headline I was like "oh crap" because I thought he is sooo dumb that he might actually have threatened her.

He has problems for sure though, bigly.

no he did not. But he is being stupid and drawing distracting attention to the Pats. I fear he won't be on the team very long.

He put her children at risk.

At best he was threatening her by putting her on notice that they were digging up dirt on her and such, with some gratuitous demeaning language thrown in there. That's intimidation in a sense (and gross behavior!), especially given that he's got a lot of money and she doesn't and that sort of thing matters in terms of power dynamics. He should have done that sort of "intimidation" the right way, with sanitized public statements by his attorney.

But let's be honest, he didn't threaten her with violence or even imply a violent threat towards her. One can simultaneously hold the thought that no violent threat was intimated while still thinking this was very stupid and gratuitous.

I'm starting to think CTE signs are screaming right there.
This is terrible judgement he's not a kid anymore those hits by Burfict messed him up I'm telling you.
This is someone who can't understand reason.
I'm sure BB is furious he will be suspended for the Jets game at the very least by the team I'm sure.

Low-life for defending himself? This woman printed all this stuff out on SI . I am pretty sure she got paid nicely for putting it out there.
