After two weeks, how many teams are done?

I was looking at the standings, and I found myself surprised at the number of teams that I pegged as already being done after just two weeks (And, by done, I mean they're already obvious non-playoff teams, barring something I'd consider to be very unlikely), due to a combination of talent, injuries, and schedule. So, I thought I'd make a thread about it, and let others weigh in with their takes.

So, without further ado, how many teams do you have that are already done?

Dolphins, Jets, Bengals, Broncos, Giants, Redskins, Cardinals.

Jags and Panthers are sitting at 0-2, but still see a sliver of hope for them given some of the uncertainty of their divisions. Jags would be my guess for the next team to be out. Panthers could hang tight if the Saints falter without Brees, and none of the others in that division gain any separation.

Phins, Jets, Giants, Redskins, Cardinals
Holding off on several other likely but not definitive candidates like the Donks

It's really bad for the league to have 5+ teams DONE after just 2 weeks

All of em but us

Dolphins and Jets. The others seem to have small openings for things to break right. Not these two, though.

I think we can all agree on the Dolphins, right? IMO, if there's anyone who doesn't have them on the "done" list, we know that we can ignore them forever when it comes to football takes, either because of such pathetic trolling or such pathetic analysis.

So, looking at the other 0-2 teams, I'll toss out some schedules.

Let me start with the Broncos:

@Packers
Jaguars
@Chargers
Titans
Chiefs
@Colts
Browns
@Vikings
@Bills
Chargers
@Texans
@Chiefs
Lions
Raiders

I can't find 8 wins there.

What about the Steelers? They're going nowhere in my opinion, and neither are the Jets, Dolphins or Jags. In danger of going nowhere are a lot of other teams - I'd put NO in that category depending on when/whether and in what shape Brees can come back. Then there are the Panthers playing with an obvious and oft injured Cam Newton. Denver doesn't look so hot either.

You are one of the most reasonable posters in this forum. But to suggest that CIN, DEN, NYG, WAS have a shot... 0%.

What about the Steelers?

@49ers
Bengals
Ravens
@Chargers
Dolphins
Colts
Rams
@Browns
@Bengals
Browns
@Cardinals
Bills
@Jets
@Ravens

I can find 8 wins there (your mileage may vary), if they can get reasonable QB play. I see them losing this week and, then, I'm looking at week 4 for the drop dead week on "done".

But, again, YMMV.

Definitely not getting in:
dolphins, jets, giants, redskins, and broncos
good chance they don't make it if they don't turn it around in next few weeks:
steelers, bengals, cardinals, jaguars and panthers.

Steelers are done. 0-2 and still have to play the

I think the Steelers are going to compete for a playoff spot. I think this Rudolph kid is for real. And they are going to surprise people.

I think the Saints are done at 1-1. This was an inept team offensively before Brees went down. Their corners stink. I love how people say the Pats were off the hook by facing the Rams and not the Saints in the SB. Sure, Saints put up more than three points. But Brady would've shredded that defense. Sean Payton has to be one of the most overrated coaches in the league. He's been coach for 13 seasons. Missed the postseason in six of said years. His reputation far exceeds his results.

Jets, Dolphins, Saints, Cardinals, Broncos, Bengals, Redskins, Giants, and Panthers are all teams I am writting off right now.

The teams on the list that go 0-3

This thread seems a week early. Teams can recover from 0-2 but probably not 0-3.

Have to pass this on... here in NY, after a late lunch, I went to smoke a small cigar and listen to online radio.

Yankees game on the Fan... click.

Red Sox game on WEEI... click.

So I then went (God forgive me) to 98.5 with Squeaky and the Douche...

...and they were talking about HOW BAD THE LEAGUE WAS... how many teams are toast already... and how few teams are really good. o_O @Deus Irae , they should get more of their conversation ideas from you. :)

P.S. It was the first interesting discussion I'd heard there since the 12th...

...of never. :D

That's really the point of why I made the thread. It usually takes until about week 4 to be really confident that more than, say, 3-5 teams are already done. This year, I've got more teams than I'd expect, and it's only 2 weeks in:

Dolphins
Jets
Bengals
Broncos
Giants
Redskins
Cardinals

I’m not writing the Giants off yet. Any team who greatly upgrades at QB will need to be reassessed later. Going from a bottom QB to a wild card high draft pick could lead to a big turnaround.

I've seen some strange in-season turnarounds. Just cannot see it with the Jets and Fishtank.

Their defense blows and their OL doesn’t seem improved all that much (thus far) so if they can’t run (well) then it’s merely an upgrade in athleticism but a downgrade in experience.

I'd put Panthers on that list too. Cam is injured and even if he were healthy, I don't think he has it in him to get that team to playoffs.
