Revisiting human scum Gregg Williams

Anything short of 16 is fine imo. Gotta shake these QBs up.
Time for you to move on. Find some other likeminded degenerates to hang with in NJ.

You’re conflating off-field issues with a coach teaching players to injure on the field?

Broad stroke there.

Maybe. But I'm not sure Ray Rice's girlfriend saw it as a broad stroke when she was getting cold ****ed in that elevator. I'm not sure Greg Hardy's girlfriend would think it was a broad stroke while she was getting bloodied and bruised. And no one has banned the owners who knew about CTE and didn't give a damn about the effect on thousands of players.

Watch the Program. 90s college football movie. Our HS coach would have us watch it every game day morning.

Injuring the opponent was a goal celebrated on "film day". Continually replaying the most violent hits from the game the previous weekend.

I am probably older than a lot of posters here and I hate to support JetFan79 but what he is saying was true. In HS, film review was basically a highlight replay of all the good plays especially big hits. You really lit someone up, you got a reward. In HS it was a helmet sticker.

Same thing in College, Film review was a teaching moment for the coaches but it also served to fire the players up and reward them for good plays especially big hits. It was a source of pride when I had more stickers on my helmet than you did. I may have had "psycho" coaches but i remember a couple players getting a sticker for an unbelievable hit on a player when we gave up a touchdown. 2 of our players absolutely drilled a receiver as he went up to get a pass. Boom, took him out of the game with what had to have been a concussion, unfortunately the ball went up in the air down into the hands of another opposing player who ran untouched to the end zone. Come Monday film review, both players got stickers. and with the stickers bragging rights. I think part of what Williams did in NO was just a continuation of this kind of thinking. HS and College, stickers are important. When you get to the pros, money is important. Everyone puts their money in the pot and the biggest hit wins the prize especially if the opposing player is carted off. It sounds like the gladiators, but that was the way it was. I never played pro so I am just inferring that part of it, but I was there when it was going on in HS and College. Maybe Ken can address the thinking in the pros. I am somewhat familiar with what Williams was accused and convicted of. But I look at it as mostly an extension of the same stuff I saw in HS etc. Is he a great guy? I don't think so. Should he have been suspended? Probably. but mostly fr the lying and cover up, IMO. Did Goodell screw up the whole situation beyond belief. Of course. That is what Goodell does. He is an idiot. NO got screwed over by the NFL the same way NE did at least twice. End of long rant.

Williams is a donkey that shouldn't be employed bc he's a bad DC. Not for this nonsense. Ignore him like Rob Parker or Skip & you'll be better off.

Thanks for not letting his reprehensible behavior overshadow his reprehensible abilities. The guy is not a good DC. He is better at being an infamous household name than he is at producing acceptable results.

Honestly can't remember the last time anyone was fearing a Williams defense. Just a complete loser.

Ah fond memories. Loved getting those stickers.

This topic was discussed on first take with a few nfl players. They all said it wasn’t a big deal, every team wants to knock the other team on their butts. It’s naive to think the players care about other players’ safety, only reason to consider it is the fines they can get.

All I care about is NE and in NE proper tackling technique per NFL rules are taught. There’s a reason a clown like Brandon Merriweather rightly failed in NE. It’s a loser mentality.

There are COURTS of law to adjudicate abuse that takes place outside of the field, Tom.

The Williams issue wasn't a court of law jurisdiction.

Perhaps you ought to think it through a little better.

Don't conflate aggressiveness and hitting hard with intent to injure/knock guys out of the game. You say you're "somewhat familiar" with what Williams did; you need to familiarize yourself further (links are provided early in this thread). The B.S. he concocted crossed the line.

well...you played football in HS, eh JF 79? Took a lot of hits, eh? Gave out a lot of hits too I'm guessing.
I'm not here to ask you about your football prowess, I'm sure more than half this board has played on some level. What I want toi know is have you ever been smashed in your mouth with a straight right? Or a well placed right and uppercut flush to your mouth? Seems to me, after a lifetime of dealing with loudmouth punks like you, that a good beatdown would do you a world of wonders. Jus' sayin...

So what? It all violates the respective codes of conduct and "integrity of the game" policies.

No, he won't be in the Hall of Fame. His record as head coach was a blistering 55-55-1. Aside from that, he was a profane hothead whose parental abuse made his sons obese psychos. "Routinely celebrated and adored"? Hardly.
Plus he had a terrible right cross.
