I don't think we can say that yet. But this is an area where having a rookie Head Coach hurts you and makes it harder for the team to find its identity.

That's exactly what I mean.

An experienced and strong HC would have benched Mayfield for playing so undisciplined.

I don’t Mayfield played anywhere near bad enough to warrant a benching.

I agree. Any of the current veteran coaches with teams at the top of their potential would make a point of working to keep Baker Mayfield in line and keep him working hard and developing.

Unfortunately it does look like Kitchens is playing Tomlin to Mayfield's Roethlisberger right now. Mayfield is too popular to really be a hardline coach for and Kitchens doesn't have the cred anyway, so he's going the "players' coach" route. Since Mayfield is currently a god in Cleveland, it might be Kitchens only option anyway.

Hopefully Mayfield is self-motivating or this could end badly.

So let me get this straight, you think we should shut down Bell and make the third string QB beat us! Perhaps someone with connections should get this info to Bill quick!

Just give me McD's number so I can call him on Sundays when he calls a draw on 3rd and long....

He takes to his feet before the plays have a chance to develop, doesn't make reads, throws hospital balls and doesn't bother trying to determine what the defense is giving him, zone or man.

Might make for exciting football, but in the NFL, that gets you 8-8 or worse.

He takes to his feet because his offensive line is terrible and he’s probably still nursing an arm injury because of them from Week 1 and makes reads just fine for a player in his second year. I won’t argue the hospital ball stance because he has definitely done that even going back to his days at Oklahoma.

I was watching the MNF here in Brazil and the guys on the broadcast talking about mononucleosis and elite athletes that didn't came back from the disease at the same level or couldn't make it back at all, I was making a burguer in the kitchen so just hearing but one name stand out to me, Robin Soderling, very good tennis player, the only one who could beat Rafael Nadal in Roland Garros, I remember because I have always followed tennis, he was an up and coming player who was at his prime, top 10, making finals, winning tournaments, quarter and semi-finals in grand slams (lost the final in RG to Federer ) and all of a sudden vanished. I remember reading a few years ago he was dealing with a condition, tried to come back but wasn't competitive at all and didn't even try that long. Didn't know it was mono.

Yeah, I wish Darnold a complete recovery but the Jets have a situation here to monitor.

I would never put money on a line like that. When you get into lines that big you get into teams running the ball late and playing keep away as opposed to scoring points.

I could see this game being fairly close score wise. They can't all be blow outs. Maybe the Pats commit a turnover and they Jets get a cheap score and maybe 3 more points. Perhaps the Patriots get up early and run the ball in the 4th and play keep away leaning on their defense.

I could see a score like 26-10 being a real possibility in that case with the Pats offense being happy to do nothing in the 4th except take some time off the clock and punt.
If it was any of the 30 other teams that the Pats face, I would agree. But, it is the Jets and we all know BB absolutely hates them and often refuses to even refer to them by name......
If there is a chance to pass late like the Miami game, I can see it happening....
If it does, we will know that this 2007 redux and the "F U tour"....
with hopefully a different ending...

OT:

Hilaaaaarrrious stat of the week:

The Miami Dolphins “scoring” averages:

PPG: 5.0
OPPG: 51.0

I can't imagine BB actually believes what he says about the Jets. I suppose he's just trying to be respectful of opponents.

Is sports history, has a team ever lost a game in which they were favored by 20 plus points? And I don't mean meaningless regular season baseball or basketball games (IE Tigers beating the Astros a few weeks ago). I'm talking MLB playoffs, NFL regular season (And playoffs).

Was on a conference call with 2 JESTs season ticket holders and 1 Giants season ticket holder last week. When football talk came up, I detected sobbing in the background

Brady blind side is the only thing that I worry about this game.
