NEW YORK JETS RETIRE BLACK UNIFORMS
The New York Jets announced tonight that they have permanently retired the "Stealth Black" version of their new uniforms introduced in April for the 2019 season. The Jets wore the black uniforms Monday night in their 23 - 3 loss to the Cleveland Browns at MetLife Stadium.
Brian Friedman, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer made the announcement in response to "the desires of our players" and an outpouring of dissatisfaction from fans on Tuesday, some related to the uniforms. Friedman also apologized to players, former players and the vast majority of Jets fans for an "extreme error in judgement" and stressed that " It is not an experience we wish to repeat; the organization recognizes the need for this change and wants to put it behind us as quickly as possible."
Jets Vice President of Merchandising and Vendor Relations, Joseph Isuzu stated that fans will be permitted to exchange any Stealth Black uniform jerseys purchased at official outlets for "Gotham Green" or "Spotlight White" at no additional charge. Unfortunately, as with the way the season is going, the team is not in a position to assist those fans who purchased similar merchandise elsewhere. "Suck it up, Buttercups," he said.
