Good for Minkah, getting far away from a team that just got pantsed by the Pats.
...and JOIN a team that just got pantsed by the Pats !!!

I think the Steelers will be competitive.
This moves helps their defense greatly.
They have a great offense of line. They can still run the ball. Maybe they can get Mason Rudolph into a quick passing game… They will play some close games but the season is not lost.

I think we know a thing or two about what can happen when you lose you’re starting QB early in the year. We had some pretty good seasons in both of those instances because other parts of the team rose to the occasion.

This is a different place, we have Belichick that’s why it worked in 08. It’s still a QB driven league. I can’t see Mason Rudolph making them even an average team.

Looking at the Steeler schedule, they could very well be 10-6 or 11-5 even with the new QB. They are exhibiting a typical degree of optimism and some commitment to winning that we are criticising other teams for not having.

I agree it may not be the best move in the long run but draft picks are far from sure things, even in the top half of the first round.

You are probably right. The AFC North is a brutal division. The Steelers are already 0-2 and they haven’t even played a division game yet.

Tomlin is more of a cheerleader than coach. He’s one of the biggest reasons I think the Steelers are screwed.

I guess its a good move for Pitt. Fitz is a blue chip talent and if they have any aspirations to compete with KC, CLE, NE or other teams with pass-first offenses with good Qb play they need cover guys. They needed that before Ben went down regardless.

Time will tell if Ben can come back and if Rudolph is the future.

I don't know if it's a good move- Steelers are projected to pick as high as 8th in the first round, so they are potentially giving up picking a future QB over a current CB that's only going to help with one half of a field.

They like Rudolph hes as good as any QB not named Tua.

What do you think is the market for a (then) 33yr old FS ?

If i had to guess 8/9m per. I hope he would give us a discount (5/6m per) but i really don't know. They are paying him 13m this year (i really don't care about cash only cap space) and i don't see him costing half that tag. I really hope they keep one of the LBs (KVN or Collins) and i think they are more important to us now.

Yeah they're set up to own the top of the draft.

Trades like this one is why I disagree with anyone writing articles about how the Dolphins are tanking and rules need to be put in place to prevent it. Well, who gets to decide which transactions are acceptable and which are "tanking?" Who wouldn't take three 1sts (one of which might be top 5) and a 2nd for Tunsil, Fitzpatrick and Stills?
They're 100% tanking.

The team was lacking talent big time & just traded away 2 very promising players & Stills. Players that to an extent have already proven themselves in the league. Obviously small sample size but both have been vg from day 1.

Draft picks are great. Im a draftnik & love them but proven players > prospects all day long.
Now all you're doing is trying to replace the players you lost w prospects hoping they'll be as good.

For a team like Miami thats scary.

When do you put a winner on the field? Fans have been waiting how many decades?

Miami is in the worst shape in the league & that's saying something. Not even close to a decent team.

They blew it up but they have a bunch of picks and a lot of cap space next year. Off course they need to hope they can build a decent team around a rookie QB.

I dunna know. Time will tell I guess.

How does a CB help when your qb is out for the season
5-11, he is out. he might keep his job at 7-9. how any position help you win ?

Oh no doubt the Dolphins have mailed it in this season, but again, how do you prevent it? Which transactions are ok, which aren't?

If the NFL wants to prevent tanking, there needs to be very specific rules and definitions in place, not just someone appointed to decide Team A is trying, and Team B isn't.

Obviously you can't tell a team like the Dolphins they aren't allowed to cut a veteran so they can get his contract off the books before the rebuild starts, expensive veterans get cut all the time. So do you say a team can't trade players while on their rookie contracts? That's not reasonable, it happens a lot. Do you say a team can't trade 1st or 2nd round picks while on their rookie contracts? Brandin Cooks would have never been a Patriot, and Mack wouldn't be on the Bears.

There's no rule to prevent tanking that wouldn't drastically impact the roster building of every team in the league. And like I said, I sure as hell don't want to leave it up to some guy at the NFL office using judgement calls on what tanking is.

What a dumb trade by the Steelers. Kevin Colbert is imploding.

Yeesh. Have to figure the Steelers will have a top 10 draft pick in 2020.

Bengals (2)
LOLphins
Bills
Jets
Cardinals

The rest of their schedule is real games.

  1. Miami has 9 picks in the first two rounds of the next 2 drafts, including 5 first round picks.
  2. Miami has over $100,000,000 in cap space for next season.

People are overselling the death of the Dolphins. This can be a 1 year overhaul, if they hit on their picks and are active in free agency.

How in the world is this even possible, or allowed? Isn't there, like, a salary cap Floor too?

The Colts had the same thing this year. It's because the floor requirements aren't in place for every season, but for a multi-season time period.
