Well, that shouldn't surprise any of us. Even taking away any drama factor, Roethlisberger is the one QB among the five aging elites (Brady, Brees, Rivers, Roethlisberger, Rodgers) who's game strategically included escaping the pocket but still taking the hits in order to lengthen plays, as well as standing in against the rush while in the pocket. And, when you add that to what is obviously the least rigorous of the health regimens among that group, it would be surprising if Ben wasn't breaking down.
I feel like he’s going to handle a 5-7 win season very poorly at this stage of his career. Their lack of receiving options is a big issue, particularly when you combine it with a mediocre defense. I know that it’s early yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him retire. For the next few months, I expect whining and brooding, with some passive aggressive comments about players and coaching sprinkled throughout.

- Dorsett - Returned
- Ghost has always had issues in Miami. Not to mention a new holder.
- Andrews is done for the year. He's not returning.
- HUH? The Pats punt coverage was excellent.. The long return I saw was 35 yards on a Kick Return that some players pulled up on because it looked like he was going to down it initially..
- Sony was benched for the rest of the game. Unlikely to see him "punished" further. Not to mention it was a good play by Fitzpatrick.

my bad!! didn't mean put coverage, meant punt return

Fixed it for you. Their D wasn’t that great in ‘07. They were old and didn’t have depth like this team does.
Samuel, Hobbs, Harrison, Sanders and Meriweather is no contest when compared with Gilmore, McCourty, McCourty, Chung and take your pick of your preferred 5th DB.

Dorsett is up to something like catching his last 25 consecutive targets.

That must be close to a record. Are there any official stats on this? I couldn't find anything on a quick google search.

Who is coaching the kicking game? Missing extra points now too? Get to work guys and fix this. And don’t try to pick up Adam if he retires.

I wonder if Ben is even injured. He seems to be the guy who when he plays poorly starts acting injured so it looks like that is the reason for his poor play.

Has Izzo done enough to warrant carrying 3 TE's once Watson comes back?

Think you guys are selling them a bit short. They did hold Indy to 20 in their own house with a million BS penalties. Defense was great and played great in the SB but, offense **** the bed (partially due to Tom's foot injury). Dominated the Chargers game too (granted Rivers was badly hurt).

At the beginning of the year, I thought this defense might be special if they could handle the running game. Shelton stepping up, Collins coming back, JJones becoming something special - might be the best, deepest D BB has had on the Pats.

The O is still a work in progress, of course. The OL has been hammered early (which is good for later on as long as Cannon and Wynn get back healthy), and Gordon got little PS work, AB is brand new, Jules got a late start, Michel got a late start, Burkhead got next to nothing for PS work. They'll get better every week and are already as good as any in the league other than KC.

I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the year. This team is special, and loaded.

The off-season will be insane, by the way, when you look at the list of players on their last year of their contract - Brady, DMac, KVN, Collins, Shelton, Gordon, Brown, Dorsett (extend him now), Thuney...

PS. BIG difference this year is that BB is letting the D take pride, fully, in its work. No more of this garbage time let up, it seems. Timeouts at the end of a blowout to preserve the low score. They WANT to be statistically and eye-test great, and they've got the talent and swagger to do it.

He didn't...
I think we roll with Watson and LaCosse when the suspension ends.
I still think a blocking TE would be a nice addition. Maybe Allen when he is health.
And there's the possibility of trading, but there isn't any good TE available for a reasonable price

Gost goes through spells where he couldnt hit the ocean.

Glad TE Matt LaCosse gave us a Threat from the TE position we are going to be difficult to stop if Teams have to account for him.
