Monitoring Wynn injury situation (Placed on IR)

Left tackles have always been paid way more, because their job is more important. If a front-side pass rusher gets free, the QB can try to get rid of the ball faster. If it's the backside, there isn't much they can do.

It's much more important that the pass rusher gets free in the first place, and the best way to avoid that is good protection all over the line. There's no sense in going all in on the LT position if it means the rest of the line sucks.

Well, they renegotiate his contract regarding the remaining 9.57M he's owed this year by adding a couple of years at the end of the contract.

You'd also need to do the same for Dmac to lower his cap hit and free up money..
I suppose I question what kind of financial commitment they would need to make to a player who’s having issues with his current team and who’s already under contract for 2 more years, that’s all. Like everything else, in Belichick we trust.

Left tackles aren't that much more important in the current game. That's 1980s thinking.

Have quarterbacks evolved eyes in the back of their head in the last 30 years?

Quarterbacks only drop back from under center around 10% of the time now, so there's no "blind side" to protect anymore.

Wot? Isn’t the “blind side” the side opposite the side that a quarterback’s torso and hips are facing? Why does that change in the shotgun?

The game was already over by the beginning of the 4th quarter. I think it's a no-brainer the team decided to declare Wynn out for the rest of the game. We can only wait for more information.

Wynn’s injury is very concerning. At least Cannon is coming back, we’d be in some deep trouble.

What kind of minor foot injury would result in a 300 pound dancing bear being ruled out so quickly?

Fearing the worst, hoping for the best.
The kind that happens when you're playing the worst NFL team of this century.

interesting that nothing has come out in the last 6 hours.
Because the NE Patriots are nothing if not forthcoming with injury updates.

If there’s any positive to come from this and Cannon being out today, it’s that there’s some additional film for BB, Scar, and co. to go off with evaluating these backups.

Yeah it wasn’t exactly a neck and neck game, but there was still very much stakes involved from the get-go with filling in for Cannon. As a whole, the reps were more meaningful than say coming in during garbage time for a series or two in the 4th quarter to relieve starters.

I’m sure Bill is really excited to hand in the injury report this Wednesday...

But Quarterbacks throw about twice as much.

Doesn't that factor in?

Someone said he did, but I've not seen it confirmed by anyone..

I think if he actually returned to the bench we would have had at least 3-4 separate beat guys pointing it out. So that's pretty doubtful.

Plantar Fasciitis?

That or something like it was the first thing I thought of. My wife hobbled around with it for two years. It looked like his backpedal may have caused a sprained arch or fasciitis or the dreaded lis franc fracture. Lets hope its something short term.

Toe injury. Severity still unknown. Could be much worse.

Sounds like something more intermediate than severe in a worse case scenario if its turf toe.

I guess we can't assume yet if there was/wasn't a break. X-Ray picks up a break but not ligament/tendon/muscle damage.

Anything less than a lis franc, Achilles or Plantar Fasciitis is kinda-sorta good news.

Hopefully we'll have some clarity by the end of today.
