Challenging for uncalled OPI under the new rule

There were numerous successful challenges for this in games today. Right now this seems to be the biggest effect of the new rule. I think teams do not know how it is going to be called, and are running various pick plays to find out. This seems like this could be the most unpredictable situation with the challenge rule.

Neither do the zebras. Hell, 345 Park Ave probably only finds out after they're done shaking the Magic 8 Ball

Even though it worked against us today, I like it.

I don’t think the rule is going to increase the amount of DPI called much - but the amount of OPI may skyrocket

I do not mind the rule, but they need to be consistent. And it is not good if there are a lot of successful challenges for this - the refs need to get it right as much as possible to start

I don't think we were doing it purposely. I think the players that were trying it were just not use to being in that position. Izzo and Gordon. They'll get better at it.

The problem is a good pick can look a lot like OPI. Officials also miss them or have been lenient with them. And the Pats run a slew of pick plays (like a lot of teams). Teams need to know what is going to be called if reviewed.

It’s brutal. OPI is not why the rule was made. And the OPI calls are ****. Not just the pats game. I have watched them called and it’s awful

I did not see it, but Diggs had a TD called back vs the Packers by this. Radio guys had no clue what the review was for.

Fing stupid rule, period

the challenge should go both ways

This may come in handy when they play the Chiefs.

And we can't really complain. That was an incredibly blatant pick -- the receiver wasn't making any attempt to run a route at all and was more than a yard downfield. Not sure how the refs missed it, actually.

Set the pick within a yard of the LOS and you're good. 3-4 yards downfield and it's obvious.

Will be interested to see how the officials treat pick play in terms of where the player setting the pick has their eyes and the degree of intent involved.

It’s one thing when a guy faces the defender and has their eyes locked on making contact. It gets a little hairy in the case where a guy setting the pick has their eyes locked on the QB while running into contact. Regardless of whether they’re aware of the defender coming at them or not, some are better at selling it than others, and it looks incidental.

Unaware how this Is treated in terms of the OPI review, but guess we’ll see.

Randy Moss did it a lot and rarely got called.

It was a TD, so Flores was not allowed to throw the flag. Only the replay official could decide to invoke a review.

It was in last 2min of 2nd half and had to be called from HQ. Can’t throw red flag there. What Flores did was call a timeout before extra point to let the zebras take another look and call a review but they didn’t.
