Do you think there is an athlete out there who wants anything less? Do you think Bill and Bob get together after the Superbowl and discuss how many games they want to lose the next season?Okay, so this won't be the typical 19-0 thread. I'm listening to 98.5 and they're suggesting that the Pats are going after it. They say that it's the reason we went and signed AB after all. What do you all believe? I'm not asking if you want it or think it'll happen. I'm asking do you all believe the Pats want it and are going for it? Discuss
Okay, then:I hate these threads. OF COURSE they are going for 19-0. Do you think there is an athlete out there who wants anything less? Do you think Bill and Bob get together after the Superbowl and discuss how many games they want to lose the next season?
I ALWAYS predict the Pats will go 19-0. That is what FANaticS do. On to New York! On to 3-0!
Gotcha. Honestly the pressure was way too much for them. Have you read about their practices before the super bowl?
I think you're mis-remembering the Jags game. They completely demolished them and were very good, especially offensively. They even pulled out the Statue of Liberty play near the goal line on one of the drives. They did, however, struggle against the Chargers.Yeh practice was terrible. And they were not impressive at all against the Jags or Chargers. Hell, they may not make that SB with a healthy Rivers and L.T.
The offense slowed down somewhat towards the end of the season. But nobody focused on it because they kept winning.
And this isn't hindsight either. But the day of SB 42 just didn't feel right. I wasn't buying the point spread. Something felt "off". Again, this is before that game started.

Let's pump the brakes until they have two starting quality tackles

Agree with everything except for the jags game. They were clicking that game except for Randy Moss, he had only one catch if I remember correctly. He was going through those BS sexual assault allegations which had him distracted.
For as great as Moss was in his career, he really didn't have a great postseason resume. I know he caught the go ahead TD in SB 42. Otherwise, his numbers seemed to dip in January (And February). Maybe I'm wrong on that though.
Don't need to. I know what I typed. I typed it. Love the maturity. Good for you. Macrocosm vs microcosm. You may want to read your original post...
Then re-read mine...
Then ask IAN to delete the thread because, OF COURSE they are going for 19-0.
If Brady hadn’t badly injured his ankle in the AFCCG and Neal hadn’t gone down in the SB, NE wins that game. Not to mention the time taken away to deal with the “taping walkthroughs” crap.In a weird way I think the 07 Pats may have been better off losing a game or two during the season. They didn't face alot of adversity during the season. And they got caught up trying to win Madden style. It worked well...until they faced adversity and couldn't adjust against a defense capable of taking away what they did best.
I don't think this Patriots team will go undefeated. Too much parity. It's unrealistic to expect. I don't think anyone will go undefeated again for quite some time. But I do expect them to get the 1 seed. And I don't see another team in the league that is as balanced as this one (Though the OL needs fixing). That's all that matters.

Spare me psychologizing about how supposedly losing a game would make them adjust more easily.
That game was also as corruptly officiated as any game in the history of professional sports. If it had merely been officiated honestly, we would have won. The most blatant example is when Troy Aikman can be heard by all 300 million or however many people watched the game across the globe, when there's just over a minute left, saying repeatedly, "Something is wrong with the play clock, why don't they fix the clock?", as the Giants reeled off about fifteen seconds worth of plays during which time about two seconds ticked off the play clock. They would have run out of time and would have lost had the clock been administrated honestly.I could just as easily turn around and say the Rams definitely win Super Bowl 36 if their practices weren't taped. But that's far fetched. Just like you saying the Pats definitely win with Neal and a non gimpy Brady.
The Giants had 4 guys who could rush the passer. They made adjustments from the first meeting. Their defense got better as the year progressed. Their record wasn't as bad as indicated either.
I think they start every year with an eye towards winning that 19th game. If they happen to win the 18 before it that would be great too but the goal in building the team is always to get into the best position to win the last game they play.
Actually, this isn't true. I've heard BB suggest before that the first four games of the season are toss-aways so he can figure out what's working and what isn't. I think he's played many seasons that way, starting out. This is different. They are mutilating teams and...
