OT: Was Manningham's catch in SB 46 the correct call?

If only Brady could throw and catch at the same time.

Can we print out this thread and then burn it?

Unlike the Tyree catch which was lucky as all hell on about 20 different levels starting from before the ball ever leaves Manning's hand you just have to tip your hat on this one. That was just a terrific pass and catch and totally belongs in the top 100.

BTW some of the top 100 plays I'm just scratching my head at. There are so many I look at and think and that was special why? There's been tons of plays just like them with better game context. I know it's subjective but still. Also the Jim Marshall running the wrong way and Mark Sanchez butt fumble, as much as I love that play, don't really belong. Top 100 gaffs, bloopers, memorable.......plays, yes. But not the greatest.

The first 60 plays they've revealed have also been really heavy on Favre and Rodgers. The Favre to Freeman is a no brainer but a few of the others are suspect and I'd be he has more coming. Rodgers it was all the hail mary plays. When those are your best plays I think it's kind of sad.

The Barry Sanders run against the Patriots should have been higher. That was just sick. On the flip side sorry but the Fridge TD in the SB shouldn't have made the list. What was really spectacular about that? The Miami Miracle deserved to be on the list as soul crushing as that was. The Moss catch deserved to be on the list.

If Tuna did not kick to Desmond Howard.

I was just thinking we need an injection of new SB42 and SB46 threads. Always well-received and the OP’s point is always so fresh and fascinating.
Yes, it's always pleasant to begin a weekend recalling long-held resentment toward Asante Samuel.

If Plunkett only had a line.

Where is that fairy Chris Stevenson? He loved talking about this game.

Busily posting and re-posting his deleted comments at PFT would be my guess.
BTW, did you know he had "season tickets in the family since '78" o_O

The old uniforms would've knocked it away.

This is worthy of it's own thread.

Think there's enough interest?
I mean, it could have legs but really who here would question Bill on something like that?

Yeah, you're probably right. No poster could sustain a debate for any great length. Maybe when there's more about the reason why.

Perhaps they still would have lost...the 96' Packers were one of the best teams ever and the Pats just didn't match up that year.

Eli F Manning ripped our hearts out twice that season, week 9 in foxborough Brady put up another huge comeback like he did earlier in the season against the Cowboys, just for Sergio Brown to blow up the game. Another loss and the Giants wouldn't have made the playoffs.

Guys...what if uh...there was holding on the helmet catch

2014-2019 > all those teams between 2008 & 2013. Lucky to even be PLAYING in that game... a renewed importance / emergence on D was - IMo - the key. Fun times, because the 2019 edition (though it’s early) could be the finest D unit they have had since the rules are slanted towards scoring.

This thread only reminds me of how lucky our fan base is and how much historical winning has taken place for almost two decades !
