Minkah Fitzpatrick available...if the price is right

Fitzpatrick spent only 17.5% of his snaps as a deep safety last season and reportedly wants to be a slot corner going forward. That makes Jones’ extension a lot more relevant than McCourty’s age.

I honestly think he is using this "I am playing out of position" argument to get out of Miami. I have rarely seen professional athletes asking for less playtime and responsibility.

If Minkah is having issues being used in "3-4 different positions" and that's why he's requested a trade, then BB will have no use for him. And it seems to fly in the face of the draft report given about him.

Remember, BB expects to shift his DBs around accordingly depending on thee coverage. That's how we've seen Gilmore in the Slot, at Safety and outside. And it's how the Pats have worked well in terms of passing off players in coverages..

This is a direct quote:
" I'm not 215 pounds, 220 pounds. So playing in the box isn't best suited for me..."

Sure sounds like a Patriots type player...

He's what Duke Dawson was supposed to be.

No he’s not, completely different players. Dawson was a pure Slot or safety guy.

Minkah you could line him in the Slot, Outside Corner, nickel safety, STAR against spread schemes (LB), strong safety, free safety. He’s also very good blitzing too. He’s also a lot more athletic and play speed isn’t quicker in my opinion.

I was basically saying he is what Bill wanted Dawson to be but Dawson was a Gator so naturally he sucked.

"The price is wrong, *****." - Happy Gilmore

BB doesn't put players in position to fail though, if a player can only do one job well * (even thought that kind of player is not selected/signed by BB) , he will put the player in position to do exactly that. It looks like a simple concept but it's not rare to see coaches in the hot seat or newcomers trying to reinvent the wheel.

By the reports not only in this specific situation it seems like Flores is over his head. I wonder if he already regret this move to Miami. With the defense the Patriots are putting together he could've stayed a little longer and setup a better situation for himself, but I don't blame anyone to choose the money in this case, but the situation in Miami seems worse than those St. Louis Rams and Browns of some years ago. They are not going to contend within 2 years and by then, when they put together the pieces (assuming they will hit on the drafts) he will be gone.

* Except Jordan Richards in the SB

I don't think you can compare the two, as they are both completely opposite.

Exactly what aspect of the GM trading away key players to stock up on draft picks makes Flores in over his head ?

He knew what he signed up for which is a rebuild. Playing Minkah to what his potential might be is just another job interview to see if there is reason to hang on to him or also turn him into future assets both from a physical but also from a mental perspective.

And Minkah seems to be failing at least the second part VERY hard.

To me the more interesting name on the trade block is Evan Engram/TE/Giants. I would offer up a 2nd and a 5th for him.

Receiver, non-blocker TE.

Is he actually on the trade block? He's one of their better offensive players.

My question as well. I read just last week that he was going to be a huge piece of their offensive puzzle this year. I think that Jones will take over at some point this year
and a pass catching TE is a nice safety valve for a young quarterback

Pretty sure it came from Chad Forbes, he listed Engram as one of the better player’s who could be on the trading block.

No way Flores deals him to NEP

Multiple reports of players being unhappy followed by trading arguably their best player, Tunsil. Minkah, the Stills BS.

Over his head may be too much but by accounts, what we saw on the field, its not good.

Its a rebuild, its messy but I think things could have been handled better in some cases.
