I changed stations today to 93.7 & I ended up turning them off too.

Lou Merloni is another useless talking head.
He is worse in the radio than he was in the
Majors.

Ordway is stuck with Fauria & Merloni the 4A player.

It’s awful. Every single show is unlistenable. The thing that bothers me the most is not even their arrogance (hello Lou) and douchebaggery, it’s the fact that they don’t even work at their craft. Their only f*cking job is to know about sports and in particular Boston sports and their knowledge is totally superficial. I generally listen to Belichick on Monday afternoons, mostly to listen to him owning Merloni, whom he clearly dislikes. This week was hilarious.

At this point I basically just listen to podcasts, including the Razor Show on the Athletic, Quick Slants Podcast and, of course, Patriots 4th and 2.

The one thing Cooks broke wearing 14 wasn't necessarily a curse

super-bowl023.jpg

I’d rather have Gordon with his extreme relapse risk than a reliable Cooks. The difference between these two is enormous. Cooks is just an extremely overrated player and classic “speedy” receiver who can’t block and is useless in short-yardage situations. Gordon is a awesome in every aspect. Didn’t like Cooks when he was on the Patriots and really glad he’s gone...especially at that absurd price tag. There’s a reason why two teams traded him rather than having to even pretend to consider a $16M annual extension.

That's what I don't understand. Didn't he have great hands in college (I could be misremembering that), and that crazy one handed catch (I know that was only one play).

Why did he drop so many; did his technique change? To be fair, I got the impression that he didn't care very much about football.

He did. His technique got a lot worse. Started to try to catch the ball with his body for some reason.

I need to chime in here just to say something

I don't know if AB did this.
The timing is off, it seems more complicated than her lawyer is portraying, that's for sure.
False accusations happen. I'm a journalist, so I always feel like it's good to hold off until you get facts before coming to a judgment on something like this. Due process exists for a reason, and people in my profession have gotten very burned in the recent past for making assumptions without a critical mind and patience.

BUT

I know a woman who was raped a few years ago, but not just one but two men. She was 20, they were in their mid-20s. She was blackout drunk, she'd been drinking around a campfire with a bunch of people and had too many. The two of them visited her in her tent later that night and took turns with her.

The first - first thing she did when she woke up, was go to the police. She had a rape kit done, said she wanted to press charges. This is within hours of her realizing what had happened the night before.

And she was told, that because she'd been drinking with them earlier that she'd never win the case and it wasn't worth the time to go through the criminal avenue. They advised her to move on.

There are tons of reasons why women don't go to police right after an assault, not the least of which is because they are often completely f*cking useless.

Let's try to move on from the insinuation that there being no criminal complaint against AB made by this woman is a sign that she's lying or extorting him. She may well be, but the fact that she didn't go to the police is NOT evidence of that being the case.
Terrible story.
Where there other details? Like did they refuse to allow her to file the complaint or did they tell her how difficult it would be to win? I see a huge difference there.
The other consideration could be with her being “blackout drunk” what kind of witness would she make?
It’s horrific that the people who did that to her go free but it probably would have been worse for her to go through a trial and have them found not guilty.

I agree that not reporting isn’t proof of anything. But I do think not reporting, then going for the money grab is extremely suspicious. I can’t think of the reason to not report that wouldn’t also keep you from filing a civil suit against a celebrity that will have you directly in the center of the news cycle.

Sometimes when these guys have to think about the play, the route, where to line up, if they're gonna get jammed at the line, etc. the "easy" stuff goes out the window. It all snowballs from there.

Merloni is usually a pretty good listen. His voice isn't a problem, and he's usually willing to blend in and take new information from people. But, today, he's definitely been acting like a clown. It's almost as if they decided that they needed someone to take the idiot's point of view and he lost the straw drawing.

And none of the sports shows are really capable of handling politics mixed with sports. They all suck at it.

First, many people in our culture are automatically defensive whenever anyone asks for a large amount of money for restitution involving damaged emotions that are not measurable. This isn’t limited to women. And this is a skepticism that should exist.

Second, my two young girls cannot understand why I can’t choose which one is telling the truth when they both claim very different versions of the truth. But they are 8 and 4. I’d think that most adults are able to distinguish this either/or conundrum that people when they didn’t witness what happened but are asked to choose which person they think is most likely lying. The other side of the coin is that, I could easily say back to you we're in a culture that still has a knee-jerk first response to think men are lying when they deny rape allegations against them. You see, trying to simplify complicated matters is not going to work.
So what do you suggest, going back to the culture where its the woman who is victimized TWICE, and the Harvey Weinsteins of the world continue their criminal behavior knowing that they can simply claim "it was consensual" and hire lawyers and investigators to IMPLY prior bad behavior, essentially putting the woman on trial.

The points you make, on the surface, are not untrue, but somehow we need to reach a place where the Ben Rothlessberger's of the world don't get off simply because the process of prosecuting them is so painful they get away with it.

I don't think this is the case in the AB situation. But this isn't always the case. I think we would all be better off we just dealt with these issues on a case by case basis, and not lump into one position or another where it's all or nothing.

So we agree.

Pandora's box is already wide open...and as I blithered and blathered since 2006, the damnable sub-moronic pathological liar that is Stokoe Goodell holds his "Article 46!!!" omnibus of idiocy over the entire league. He will mete out whatever he feels is appropriate, depending on which way the binary, cisgendered mutant media mafia blows...it's a big shyt sandwich and we all have to take a giant bite every time we sit down to enjoy the game of our fathers.

Sad.

One of the all time greatest players in NFL history has had a" trainer" go after him as well.......What happened? NADA.

Let's just hope they were both "mis-characterized" in sexual misconduct and both not guilty. Barstool brought this up. Manning is one of the most sought after former NFL spokespersons.

"University of Tennessee Being Sued For Letting Peyton Manning Drag His Nuts On A Female Trainers Face And Basically Laughing About It."

The lawsuit says “in 1996, (then) Jamie Whited, the first female associate trainer in UT’s history, reported an incident to the Sexual Assault Crisis Center in Knoxville alleging UT football player Peyton Manning had, in brief, ‘sat on her face’ while she was assessing the extent of an injury. The incident was settled in 1997 … conditioned on the victim leaving her job at the university.” The UT lawsuit cites a USA Today article from 2003 about the woman’s subsequent lawsuit against Manning for his reference to her in his book.

Here is a potential NFL horror story. If Peyton was not punished and Brown is.....holy hell will break out on the racial equal justice forefront

The NFL has to face either the #metoo movement or the SJW machine......."sticky wicket" I'd say! Good luck with that.........

Of course if AB losses the law suit big time as evidence is substantial, then all bets are off. Still see his word against her's.
Thoughts?

Dont forget this gem of a thread he started in 2017
What is Wrong with Brady? The Debate Continues...

Guy is a clown.
And Brady did improve from a likely injury. I'm not sure if you watched those games, but that wasn't the usual Brady. He overthrew people and seemed generally frustrated. And the coaches held him accountable, he held himself accountable, and he got back to his level of play. I'm not sure what makes that a clownish post.

I guess your definition of fandom is just worshiping the ground guys like Brady walk on. That isn't why he is successful. He thrives on the doubt and the hunger it gives him.

@MainePatsFan26
@NENGFAN

Oh ****, players in “the circus” are clearly pissed off that Brown is killing the team’s chemistry. I just hope they don’t completely meltdown before the Miami game.

Patriots have rave reviews of Antonio Brown at practice: 'He can do it all'
Whoa. Some guys said a guy who has made a lifetime of being athletic and catching footballs can do just that. When Brown throws someone under the bus, we'll see if they have the same level of enthusiasm.

All good points but no offense DW....another Antonio Brown thread I need to ignore

I like when you post. Half the time I don't understand your demented grandpa ramblings but I sure as hell love the energy behind them!

Things that can ruin your career

#17>sexual accusations/feet injury

Any major news organization that points out the videos and their inconsistency of her story with them will be accused of being rape apologists, blaming the victim, etc. It’s simply the culture we live in.
Yes, we are living in the #NOTME culture.
