See, this is the problem. My wife wasn’t aware of this today until I explained it to her, and she’s well educated. She had just assumed that no woman would want to bring on the humiliation of a rape case, and being publicly judged is the only option.

But...Rape victims are protected by specific laws so they can keep their anonymity and avoid being embarrassed on the witness stand. That’s why these laws exist.

But then you do have agenda driven turds like SMY, peddling why filing a criminal case is pointless and explaining that we shouldn’t dare question why a person would jump directly to a civil suit (thus opening themselves up to discovery in exchange for a chance at compensation). That she didn’t even attempt to file a criminal complaint, even after the fact, even two years after, is appalling. Looks like she’s just counting on the SMYs of the world to yell and scream at people who question this very suspicious choice to seek justice in a civil court while not even contacting authorities at any point.

I'm not really sure how this isn't logically equivalent to saying "rape can't be a problem because there are laws against it." Enforcement is left to humans and nobody is stopping the person with confidential information from being sloppy even without malicious intent. Then you have to consider the material corruption in the police force making it even less likely things move directly toward justice. The existence of protective laws is better than the absence, but they only go as far as any law. There are many reasons not to feel comfortable trusting the justice system.

What a lame publicity stunt. That would be like me banning Hannah Ferguson from my bedroom.
Up until 15 minutes ago I had no idea who Hannah Ferguson was.

Now that I do, I see your point

She files a civil lawsuit, yet she’s not available until next week. Yea makes real sense. I’m just so done with this ********.
She's getting married. She's having trouble deciding serving chicken or beef

I have no idea how this will turn out, nor do I have an opinion regarding the facts.. It will be interesting to find out who is coaching her and paying her to file. The timing is truly strange.

Not sure if it's been asked already but is there a time stamp on the video of those 2 birdbrains hanging out together?

AB needs to hire Andy to his defense team. He can't lose.

We both know there is no "justice" served in civil court, only $$$. It's always interesting to get a woman's perspective on things like this. My wife is a RN who has seen her share of rape victims at the medical end, occasionally accompanied by police. She considers it a moral imperative for victims to pursue criminal charges. When I told her about the Antonio Brown case she just rolled her eyes and left the room.

Did I just read somewhere that this woman is getting married this weekend??!! Wouldn't you wait till afterwards before unleashing this media **** storm? This keeps getting weirder and weirder?

I heard a caller on talk radio equate Bob Kraft to Bill Cosby today. Host did not argue. The hate runs deep for our beloved team. This is off the charts.

I am not sure if this has been brought up yet, I have only read about 65 or 70 pages of the thread.

The first thing that came to mind when I heard rumor of the Commissioner's Exempt List was the following: the NFL has seen the way that NBA players control their own destiny, and they certainly do not want that to become commonplace in their league. Antonio Brown just shot himself out of town in as egregious a way as the NFL has seen. Vince Carter and Kawhi Leonard and Anthony Davis etc, while not the same tactics, there was a similar result for the player, being free to go work where he wishes. I know the odd timing of this accusation has been brought up, but has it been brought up that the NFL may be trying to put its foot down?

I don't think anything will happen, I think he'll be cleared, and I have read that the NFL apparently can't Exempt List him with no criminal charges. It was just the first thing that came to mind.

I unfollowed her because it was just endless tweets of her arguing with people and I agree with a lot of her politics but it was still out of control.

Speaking as someone who is as progressive as they come, she is just the absolute worst. So narrow minded and thin-skinned.

The exact experience I had following her on Twitter. I used to think she was one of the best at covering the team, but had to disengage because she's yelling at people online all the time. People come in tiptoeing with something like "Big fan and I agree with you but perhaps you were a little harsh just now?" and then it's rage and blocking people as a response.

The nfl has free agency.

As I understand, Goodell can put him on the Exempt List once the NFL investigates.

In the past few days, here are the number of pages for a few select threads:

Brown Lawsuit - 115 pages
Patriots Sign Brown - 87 pages
Post Game Thread - 18 pages

I'm wondering if others feel maybe the Antonio Brown situation is getting to be too much of a distraction to bother. We just demolished Pittsburgh, a key rival, and all anyone can talk about is a guy who may or may not have ejaculated on a woman who ranges from saintly (she was reading religious texts) to a gold digging loose woman (Brown calls her a "hoe" in a text). And that guy had nothing to do with that victory, in case anyone needed reminding.

Is anyone else ready to cut him and be done with it?

ps. Randy Moss was a strange guy at times, but fun. I'm not sure it's fair to him to be included in the same conversation as Antonio Brown. Now, Big Ben and Brown? Those two seem like they might have some stuff in common (if not sexual assault, at least a degree of narcissism enough for a few small moons to orbit them).

Not sure what PatsFans.com thread page counts have to do with whether or not the actual Pats organization views it as a distraction. Let’s wait and see.

Somehow, I don’t think Belichick would consider long threads on Patsfans.com to be a distraction. And he can handle the media. I think he can help us win games, so no, I don’t want to cut ties with him.

I’m not a huge fan of the signing, but if Belichick thinks he can help the team win games, then I’ll gladly deal with the distractions.
