Antonio Brown

Oh my bad. I don't understand why a woman would go back to the same man who *sexually assaulted* her a couple of times.

Yup. If it was a weird controlling relationship or he had power over her career, sure. But she lived in Tennessee and kept flying out to see him. Hell, she reached out to him in the first place when desperate for money after he just received a $19 million signing bonus.

If NFL puts AB on NFI list without more evidence, it will be open season for extortion on any star NFL player. For Mahomes, you simply say pay me 100K NOW or I will tell the world about your fictional sexual assault attempt.

I'm concerned that Goodell will put Brown on the exempt list in the interim, until he can interview Taylor.

I think an effective counterargument to that is: this is a civil lawsuit, no criminal charges have been pursued, and the defense claims to have evidence that would indicate the accuser and the accused had a mutual relationship following the initial supposed assault(s).

Brown's team should be proactive about presenting this evidence to the NFL in an attempt to avoid a suspension/exempt list in the meantime, assuming the evidence is in fact true and is being presented in good faith.

Ultimately, if Brown did these things he should be reprimanded accordingly and I do not want him on the team, let alone in the NFL. If he did not, then the evidence indicating his innocence (if any) should be presented and the suit should be dismissed ASAP.

I understand why the NFL would be reluctant to have him actively playing in games while this is resolved, given that if the accusations are true it's a stain on the NFL. With that said, they're playing a dangerous game, as suspending an active player over false/misleading allegations is also problematic. I have in hunch that the NFL feels the latter, suspending/disabling an innocent person while an investigation commences, is likely the lesser of two evils when compared to allowing a potential abuser/rapist to play.

We shall see.

Hell I don't think he plays one down of football here.
I don't think he will either...I hope this filthy maggot doesn't see DIME FECKIN ONE from us and Bill cancels the DT trade to the Jete.

I believe the specifics of her complaint state that incident 1 was a kiss and indecent exposure, incident 2 was him touching himself during a church service, and incident 3 was rape.

I wouldn't phrase it the way you did. It wasn't a slow build up of transgressions. The first time, she says he whipped it out while coming onto her. The second time he ejaculated all over her without her permission.

I think it's likely the NFL will place him on the exempt list.

If he was not on the Patriots I think it's likely the NFL would not do anything.

How quickly will the Antonio Brown investigation unfold?

If, along the way, the Commissioner concludes that Brown “may have violated this Policy by committing” sexual assault or rape, the Commissioner may place Brown on paid leave. The Commissioner’s powers in this regard are very broad; he needs to conclude only that Brown “may” have committed a violation. The content of the lawsuit could be enough to allow Commissioner to include that a violation “may” have happened.

I think it's very likely the NFL will place him on the exempt list.

until the facts are out, the rational opinion is to assume innocence, no?

I wasn’t responding to the rape allegations...just the series of incidents involving Brown over the last few years. Another one is that he cheated on some Buffalo player’s wife. Yes, I presume innocence on the charges brought against him - but no, I don’t think he’s in any way a good human being. I’ve been railing against him for about two years in Steeler threads on here, commenting on how he’s an entitled, spoiled prima dona cut directly from the Steeler Superstar Company.

Red Flags abundant because she is not pursuing this in criminal court. She wants $$$$.

Many people feel that an over-correction is necessary. This isn't my opinion, it's just one of the contributing factors in why these contemporary judgements are coming so swiftly and harshly.
And we both know that’s horrible and wrong

Gets back to simple truth “Two wrongs don’t make a right”

Everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

This reminds me of the dopes that are blaming our current challenges on the Boomer generation

The only meaningful ramifications of the scenario you described is that someone could effectively disable a player and prevent them from playing for 'x' amount of time simply by making an accusation. That's problematic, but it has no impact on the outcome of the case in court.

Whether or not the NFL chooses to inactivate Brown has no impact on the outcome of the case, and if Taylor gets any compensation.

They're two separate discussions.

Hypothetically someone who's a fan of 'x' team could bring about well-orchestrated allegations against a player of 'y' team in an effort to affect availability on the field. But I think that's probably not worth worrying about at this point -- I doubt we'd see a flurry of false allegations simply to tip the competitive balance on the field.
