He cannot be found guilty unless the State of Florida brings charges against him. Here, he could he found liable for damages but won't go to jail.
exactly. non story.

I cannot believe what is going on with the Patriots. How in the world is this a surprise to them?

This toxic situation is years in the making. On some level I want to know what Drew Rosenhaus knows and when did he know it. He's the attorney/intermediary here. It is very hard for me to believe that this situation was under wraps to the defendant's people with all of the on-again, off-again parts of the plaintiff's story spanning several locations and multiple events of sexual assault.

I am not taking sides here at all after reading the lawsuit description, the rebuttal by AB's lawyers and media descriptions. It takes two to tango, and my guess is that both the defendant and the plaintiff have a role in this spiralling out of control. AB's behaviors in Pittsburgh and Oakland suggest he has difficulty discerning the limits of civil and appropriate behavior. The plaintiff kept engaging with AB despite completely unacceptable and, if proven, illegal sexual assaults.

The Patriots signed a contract that has extensive protections in it. They should step back and make this guy inactive until this situation gains some clarity. I, for one, don't want to see him on Sunday in a Patriots uniform until this is resolved. AB hasn't earned it.

He won’t be released unless there are criminal charges or being investigated as criminal..right now it’s civil.

He said she said..

No, he might be released because he didn’t tell them about all of this before they signed him. Before they traded away a useful player to a division rival for a roster spot and cap space for him.

I really don't know how to normally respond or give my opinion on these sort of issues due to the fact, if the statements are false about AB then it affects so many women who have been sexually abused and won't feel their story of being abused will be taken seriously due to claims like this being proven as false.

because someone is accusing AB of something it's over for him? Not sure I can follow you on this.
We’ll have to see how the club and league handle it, whether this voids his guarantees, if he’s put on the commissioner’s list, how much pressure the other 31 owners put on Goodell, whether any major advertisers pull out, not to mention whether Kraft or Belichick even wish to proceed with this clown show, etc.

Being accused of rape normally isn’t a good look for player, team, or league, and NE is generally considered to have a lower tolerance to BS. It’s most definitely a possibility that he won’t be here for long, and even if they decide to continue like nothing happened, how long until Goodell does his fake and biased investigation where he’s then suspended? We’re talking about a rape accusation. It’s serious stuff.

Unfortunately, Goodell will go through his fake BS process where he pretends to be neutral during his 6-8-10 week investigation, only to find Brown worthy of a suspension, which will just happen to be during the stretch run of the season + playoffs.

I know we have reason to be skeptical of how Goodell will handle this, but if the league was out to get us at all times, Josh Gordon wouldn't have played Sunday night. Remember how so many people expected Roger to drag his feet on that one?

why is everyone so fed up?

there is like a 10% chance he is guilty and even if he is investigations take months. The Patriots will already be SB54 champions and AB SB54 MVP

You're thinking about the logical aspect.

Now think about the non-logical aspect, e.g., Roger Fraudster with his unchecked hubris/power.

He can put AB on the exempt list anytime he feels like it, whether or not the NFL initiates or completes an investigation.

Let’s not forget our owner being arrested for soliciting prostitution with video.

AB very likely didn't think something like this would happen. It would probably be very odd if he had told the organization "Oh, btw, I shot my load on some girl's back two years ago but she was dressed, mind you."

Because she wants $$$, not justice.
Is it possible that she just didn’t feel she had the evidence to put him away and just wanted to get something on him? Speaking in terms of hypothetically here as to not dig into the details but to just try to find a legit reason somebody may go this route.

What does that have to do with the NFLs own set of rules and punishment? We’ve gone over examples where charges weren’t brought forth and suspensions still handed down. Roethlisberger and Elliot are the two most famous examples. They both served suspensions. Other players have been suspended by the club and or placed on the commissioner’s list.

If it were as simple as Florida filing/not filing charges, the NFL wouldn’t have announced their involvement last night.

If I hear the words "Ted Wells is going to investigate", I'm going to lose it. Lol seriously what ever happened to that guy? The leagues investigations are a joke anyway, can see this investigation result not ending great for the patriots, just to make all the other teams happy. You know since the league can punish however they want under that one little conduct clause.

I agree, but he is so unpredictable. He severely lacks wisdom and common sense, so his punishments are very inconsistent and often counterintuitive.

My wife is a #MeToo pink hat lady and even she thinks her accusations are ********

EDIT: FWIW.....she is not a football fan.

If a woman is sexually assaulted twice by the same man, is she going back to his place for some food after a night out?

He didn't punish Kraft, and gave Gordon a free pass, so I think he reverses course on AB because he will think he's coming across as being "lenient on the Patriots."

True. That era may be over. But owners could complain and influence him, but we’ll see.

I don’t think the comparison is apt. You have a habitual drug addict who followed the guidelines set forth by the league and finally satisfied their requirements, roughly 9 months later. For 9 months, the player and team were in limbo. That’s great that Goodell is working more towards rehabilitation and is less focused on punishment, but that’s something that will make the NFL look good, like they’re trying to help.

Then you have someone who’s been accused of rape, which is something much more heinous and will draw the ire of anyone with an opinion outside of NE. That’s something the league will be more protective of, in terms of showing the public how they handle it and likely enforcing a zero tolerance policy.

I don’t think that’s suspicious if it’s a relationship that’s difficult to leave but, flying to go see him seems like a stretch.

And you came here just to say that? Ok
That didn’t last long. That will make the stay with the Bradys awkward.

I would assume he will be inactive this weekend and unless something surprising happens gone by next week (or earlier).

Whether he did or didn’t do it is a separate discussion that I dont want to get into on a internet board.
So it doesn’t matter if allegations are true or not, you assume he is gone either way? Also, you shouldn’t use the word “******” to insult fellow posters, that is very offensive. There are plenty of insults that don’t relate to a medical condition that someone is born with.
