According to reports the pats were caught off guard by this. So maybe not?

Either situation is possible whether they knew or not, time will tell.

Schefter reporting the team was caught by surprise with these rape allegations. If true, no way they would have traded DT away.

Regardless, the Patriots knew they were playing with fire going after Brown. They took the risk. It happened immediately after we got him.Hope it goes away but the media will keep hyping it and it will grow into a monster and give ammo to the owners and Goodell.

I think he’s referring to the LB convicted of the white collar crime.

Oh right. Mychal Kendricks. He was already suspended, though (after he pled guilty).

The more I think about it the more I think Brown will get suspended. If those two incoherent emails are really from him, it seems (to the extent I can understand it at all) like he’s admitting to ejaculating onto her back.

While that’s not rape, that’s certainly sexual assault under modern standards. So he’s gonna get suspended (again, if those emails are legit).
Only if it was an unwanted action. Not my taste, but who knows what's her predilections are. Especially given the innumerable times she instigated contact with Brown AFTER that incident. She'd have and awfully good explanation for that inconsistency to get my vote

What separates Patriots fans from other fans is that you get less of the ridiculous conspiracy nonsense and Neanderthal begging for opposing players to get injured with Pats fans, not this fixation on players who aren't even activated on Sundays.

Yeah, many people here DO give a **** about practice squad players. Injuries happen in a long season.

The details count to the Patriots like no other team. That's fundamental for even a remedial understanding of the New England Patriots. I'm sorry non-superstar players bore you, but it's basic Patriots 101..

He was also traded after Meyers had an acceptable game on a rookie salary. His trade can correlate to many things, depending on what narrative you're trying to promote.

Beyond Meyers, Gunner showed that his punt return skills alone are valuable enough for a roster spot, and Dorsett had his best game as a pro (capping off an extremely optimistic preseason with Brady.). I think DT sticks on the team if Gunner had fallen flat on his face, Meyers looked like he was in over his head (perhaps then they IR him), or Dorsett remains a bit player. None of those things happened. Meanwhile, there may have still been a shred of second guessing about keeping DT, but the Brown trade have done away with any last doubts. So I think DT was hanging on by a thread anyway, though maybe technically Brown pushed him off the roster.

The response by EVERY woman in this thread seems to belie your statement with every post they made.
Very small number of women in this thread.

Obviously not every human thinks this way, but many people jump to protect the supposed defenseless female. No, im not sexist. I believe in gender equality. Something we sadly still don't fully have.

That's just rationalization for obsessing over trivial players. Obi being on the gameday roster isn't moving the needle closer to a Super Bowl victory.

Find it curious that this pops up AFTER he signs with the Pats.

Call me suspicious. Highly, highly suspicious.

Some of this is likely why criminal charges were never brought forth. Unfortunately, some of us are skeptical due to the bias of Goodell and/or public outrage. In other words, it’s difficult (for me) to envision a scenario where Brown continues to play. I hope that my opinion is wrong, as I’d love to see what he could do in this offense. Let’s be honest though, the whole situation felt kind of weird from the beginning.

Regardless of what happens with Brown, they’ll keep swinging at us all year long, hoping that something, anything sticks.

Gotcha. Sorry to have bored you.

At this time in 2014, you'd have put Malcolm Butler in that category. 2015? David Andrews. 2016? Jonathan Jones. Last year? J.C. Jackson.

We were thin on the OL and now Cannon is hurt. Rumors are that he will only miss a few games therefore won’t be put on injured reserve creating another roster spot. I assume they will add another O lineman with DT’s spot. Without Cannon’s injury they may have held onto DT for another week while continuing to evaluate the situation. That injury might have forced their hand.

If I had to guess, I’d have to agree with everything you wrote here. Whether the signing of Brown was the nail in the coffin for DT or not, it’s still going to suck losing him if Brown can’t play.

The injury to Cannon may have been the deciding factor, no doubt. Had they brought an OL in when they made their cuts on Monday, I’d fully believe it without hesitation.

Wow a civil lawsuit for sexual assault and rape. No police report, never even bothered to tell authorities. Straight to civil court. I have no idea if ab is the biggest scumbag that ever lived but a “pending” civil lawsuit is a joke. If that’s the benchmark for guilt. I fear for every player in the nfl.

Still pissed they killed off the Czar and his family, Romanoff? :p

We get it. Football bores you.

No, pointless debates over non-contributors bore me. None of your entered-after-the-fact examples apply.
