Just wanted to say thank you, this god-awful take is something I'll need to keep in mind when considering if I should bother to read/reply to whatever you have to say in the future.

I'll be relieved if this is all extortion for all the obvious reasons but I'm not gonna rush to assume that let alone say so.

It would be a terrible look from Goodell, especially after letting Hill walk with nothing.

It would also be a terrible look having never done it before, and forcing a team to pay a player that they can't put on the field would be a very good way to lose support of the ownership.

Supa, potential for what??????

47-3?

This D won't be giving up more than 12-13 points per game this year.

I know this is probably not popular to say here, but both DT and AB were as useless to the Patriots as tits on a bull.

The fundamental truth for the very good reason why BB picked up AB within minutes of availability was NOT for the New England Patriots.

It was to keep him off of the KC Chiefs, LA Chargers and other teams. If the Pats lose him to some arbitrary Commissioner's Exempt list at least it keeps him from going to one of the other contenders.
I’m not sure why you’re stuck on the week one score versus what appears to be a very flawed PIT team? Forget the score of the game on Sunday. I’m speaking to the potential that we were all excited about earlier this afternoon. The idea of having two more big name, experienced vets in the passing game against the elite teams in January/Feb.

Of course my comment goes back to losing both, which hadn’t happened yet, but if it did it would make a lousy situation even worse.

I normally don’t ask, but I did because when I see an odd ratio of positive ratings and then there’s two “dislikes”, it’s funny.

As I’ve mentioned on this board before, I’m not a fan of the drive by “disagree” or “dislike” and then the poster carries on without any explanation why.

I rarely, if ever give out “disagree” or “dislike”, if I don’t agree with a poster, I hit the “quote” button and explain why.

I appreciate your explanation!

I went ahead and edited my post to remove that first paragraph.

You asked in a fair way, there was no need for me to bring it up.

An asteroid smashing into Gillette Stadium would also make the situation worse. That hasn't happened yet either.

I’m curious if the Patriots have the same void clause as the Raiders, so a suspension would void the guaranteed portion of the contract. We were told the Raiders money was guaranteed, too, but it wasn’t.

Anyway, guilty or not, if the Patriots want out, I wonder if they have that option. I don’t find this lawsuit compelling on its face, but if Brown is potentially facing a suspension or a dark cloud on a one-year contract, and the fact that they weren’t informed of this by Rosenhaus, I wonder if they’d rather just recoup their money and move on.

All that said, I think Brown practices tomorrow and plays Sunday. I just wonder about the amount of risk involved here from a salary perspective.

@Tunescribe

Any significance to this being a federal lawsuit instead of a state one?

Some times it's the quality of judges (more political vetting versus elected judges). You have a little less in the way of runaway juries and huge judgments. Corporate defendants often look to remove a case from state to federal court because state courts can get ugly for certain defendants.

I expect federal dockets are a little more predictable given a heavy motion practice. The plaintiff may be looking to push the case forward while AB is in the news and hoping for a future deal in the NFL. Motions (to dismiss, discovery and summary judgment) drive the case forward or out. State courts may issue random bad or good decisions, and can have dockets that stall for long periods of time. Federal courts do not allow motions to languish forever (there are reporting requirements carrying administrative sanctions if motions sit unanswered for too long).

Jurisdiction is based on a federal statue (citizens of different states and a requisite amount) but the law is no different (federal courts apply state law in a case like this). The court procedure uses federal rules.

I guess a couple/few of you guys are either just butthurt or in denial of what’s happening, so there’s no use responding to my comments.

It was a very basic post about the irony of potentially losing both players, which will happen if Brown cannot play either by league or team decision. It’s really not an argumentative viewpoint in the slightest bit. Unless you believe that the world is going to turn a blind eye to this news, there’s a pretty decent chance that it will happen.

If you choose to believe in the idea that we’ll get a fair and independent look at things, then God bless you. For multiple reasons.

The only way that Brown doesn't play for the Patriots is if they chose to cut him loose. He will no longer be under contract to the Patriots by the time any "league justice" happens, if it ever does.

Isn’t that the whole point of the board to discuss stuff?

Isn't the whole point of the disagree/dislike buttons to express disagreement/dislike in an efficient manner?

I will never understand grown ass men giving a **** about a red x or thumbs down icon. Clearly if the person thought you or their opinion were worth the time they'll bother to engage you.

Personally I tend to use dislike/disagree sparingly but when I do it's often without further explanation because I consider the person's statement so ridiculous that they aren't worth more of my time than clicking on a post reaction icon.

Excellent post. I rarely give out a dislike or disagree unless it’s a borderline troll post. It’s funny that some people may disagree with a small part of what you said, and just give you the disagree button. Instead of just quoting the part they disagree with and discussing why.

I find it funny how she can be raped on 3 different occasions or whatever.

The first time wasn't enough or how does that go actually?

I'll have to just agree to disagree.

If they lose AB, I'm perfectly fine with the team they have (as long as AB doesn't go to another contender - - which I surmise was BB's intention this weekend).

From what I see of the Pats, and what I see of the "contenders", there is simply no other team that has BOTH this offense AND defense.

Would it be nice to have AB? Sure. But would it be a gamechanger not to have him? Nope. This is the only team in the NFL that can say that.

They didn’t let Hill “walk with nothing” in the beginning. There was the initial public outcry, the refusal to allow him to join in team activities, and a (then) ongoing criminal and CYS case against him.

You didnt say "potentially".

Taking a step back and leaving aside the moral implications, the lack of criminal charges significantly reduces the pressure on the team to take action in the short term. I'm genuinely curious why this person went the civil suit route first but I'm trying very hard to not draw the obvious conclusions.

In the interim I'm just gonna leave all the rest of this aside and hope to see an exciting football player do exciting football things this Sunday because my guess is this **** will drag on for several months if not a year or so.
