They were completely innocent of the charges. It was a rare case of complete exoneration, as opposed to an inability to prove a case. "Nothing at all" is completely appropriate, as is the use of the case as an example.
No, you're wrong. I said they were found not guilty of rape. Their other behavior I said was disgusting and despicable, and I'm right. It was.

Heck of a signing there Bill!

Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we ignore character when signing football players!

I had the under on 4 weeks!

So when this story disappears in a week, are you going to say the same thing? I can already tell it has no legs.

Guilty until proven innocent. That's how it is now.

But it won't even matter. There will be frontier justice online. People will be outraged and will only be fueled by the fact that EVERYONE hates the Patriots. The truth won't even matter once all the facts are laid on the table because people are just looking for confirmation to support their bias.

If what Albert Breer tweeted is true, i won't even be surprised.

ESPN updated their story to say:

“A spokesman for the Patriots told the New York Times, who was first to report the lawsuit, that the team had not heard about the lawsuit or any related allegations.”

So the plot thickens.
Not really, if the official statement wasn't ready yet.

Just like BB had no idea Luck retired. Right?
Wouldn’t really compare those two things.

I find it very plausible that the Patriots truly didn’t know about this because Brown never thought the accuser would actually go through with it.

A few days later after some crazy outbursts, getting cut, signing with NE and being the talk of the sports world; that would certainly make the accuser speed up their filing.

They had not heard about the lawsuit or it’s specific allegations before it was filed. That’s PR speak that admits nothing, says nothing. It doesn’t foreclose the possibility that they were aware of the situation.

OK, that's fair.

How about Cosby's first accuser then?

She filed a police report and pressed criminal charges, what does that have to do with this case of just filing civil?

I can’t believe I have to actually defend clowntonio clown. Well maybe defend is a bad word

As far as I know that's Lachele Covington and I have never known her to be attacked by anyone in the media.

You should probably think twice before referring to someone as a "misogynistic ass" without knowing what I've done for women both in their careers and in times of need simply because I don't buy into MeToo. And FWIW, that movement disgusts me because it should have been a force for good, something that shook the foundations of the world but nope, it's become little more than a hashtag sideshow and the world simply keeps on doing what it's always done.
Well you are right about that. I don't know you well enough to call you a misogynist. And while your posts DID seem to lean that way, I should have been more circumspect. Sorry.

But I think your distaste for the Me Too movement, like my comment, is also too reactionary. No movement "shakes the foundations of the world" on initial impact. What Me Too did was move the needle off the inertia that existed beforehand and started the process. It at least got the "discussion" going and sent a scary warning to potential abusers. But that alone doesn't stop it from happening or others taking advantage. Despite your misgivings and disappointment in it, we are a little better off because of it, at least the women we love are.

I meant that initially everyone ignored it and asked why she came out after such a long time. It wasn't until there were multiple
Acaccusers that she ended up on cnn.

1) that wasn’t a lawsuit.
2) it was about collusion, not wrongful termination
3) he didn’t “win” anything - the sides settled.

True, true and true, was throwing it out their as a recent successful example of a grievance agaisnt the league. Not saying it's complete apples to apples

To those who think the Pats were privy to this before they signed him are being overly optimistic. No way they knew. They would not have traded DT and would want to take on this bombshell in season. BB hates distractions.

They are going to be pissed at AB and Drew from keeping this from them. AB better not care when they give him number 81

Well, I openly questioned why she came out after years myself.

"Several months later, Brown reached out to Ms. Taylor, expressing contrition, begging forgiveness and pleading with her to train him again. Ms. Taylor was hesitant but eventually agreed, swayed by his assurance that he would cease any sexual advances. Brown’s assurances proved false."

So the accuser went back to Brown after he promised not to sexually assault her again, very fishy.
