Antonio Brown

*Ignoring the current situation and speaking generally*

There’s a lot of reasons a sexual assault victim wouldn’t. The investigation is very intrusive and requires the victim to relive the trauma they just went through. It’s not as simple and shady as waiting to file charges as opposed to immediately wanting to call the cops.

Right. Before we start sounding like Chiefs fans defending a player because he plays football really good, let’s get the facts and reserve ourselves until then. Manning did a total smear campaign on a trainer and ultimately ruined her career. Don’t want this to happen again.

I do get the timing being bad, bypassing charges and straight to civil. But regardless, rape is a serious allegation and the facts need to be put out there before we start calling anyone a liar.

I heard a great quote and I wish I can remember who said it because I want to give proper attribution... basically it was something like: "The fact of the matter is that sometimes people lie and sometimes those people are women."
Sadly, often times women tell the truth, and we don’t believe them because they are women. And that is the reason, I’d think, society has given accusers the benefit of the doubt - because for too long we didn’t take their word when they needed us the most.

The statistics are not any different than false reporting of other crimes.

I mean, we should be skeptical of Brown's statement too, but even supposing this is all true... how big of a dumbass do you have to be to put the lady who already tried to grift of you on your payroll and then sleep with her continually over several years?! The accusation is probably completely false but, like, Antonio, dude, you kinda asked for it.

Absolutely, but it's also consistent with all the other idiocy that we've seen from AB off the field so it kinda fits.

The stress of this could have easily factored into his recent odd behavior.
I don't think he is stressed about it all. This woman wanted money for her struggling training center business. She tried to sign AB as a partner but AB got suspicious and bailed. She came back several times after the supposedly rape day. AB has text messages of her asking for tickets after the rape.
She should be seeking jail time and not just compensation. She should first report it to the police, let the police do some forensics, investigate.
Interesting that this came out today, Neymar was recently accused of something similar and today his accuser was charged with fraud and is going to jail.

It's much harder to win a criminal case than it is a civil case. Burden of proof is far higher in a criminal case.

These sorts of cases very rarely go to court. If it's obviously frivolous the judge will sustain motions to dismiss it before a hearing is even set, and if there's some possible merit (even if ambiguous) then the parties will usually settle out of court. Court cases are usually more expensive than simply settling.

Assuming the Pats asked AB if there was anything in the closet and IF he knew about this and IF he didn't inform the Pats, would that be grounds for voiding the contract and clawing back the first guaranteed payment?

I assume so, yeah. I also wonder if any guaranteed payment has even gone through yet.

If women keep getting caught lying about it, it will become a less and less serious allegation. Based on what we know right now, absolutely everything about this seems like a money grab.

Couldn't she wait until after the season for the lawsuit?

If it LOOKS to be true? What kind of a standard is that?
Would you have kept Big Ben after he got off even though we could all see pretty clearly he was guilty? That’s the standard I’m going for.

The details we are seeing so far, support AB. We’ll see how it develops.

What would be the correct time? There really aren’t that many false rape charges compared to real ones. We’ll see how this unfolds.
Uhh let me see....May 2018 at the latest?

How convenient. A day after he signs a big deal?

Yea, no money grab here.
What an F'ed up world we live in.

The sad part, is she'll probably win.

I really have lost all hope for our civilization

Anyone check this women's bank account... Any deposits from the steelers or Raiders? Lol timing definitely seems very suspicious.

Oh well, gotta wait and see. I mean that's what Kraft wants for his case correct, wait and see final disposition, and he was actually charged.

Boy ChefsAsteroid folks will be all up in here saying how we're defending a rapist.
