Demaryius Thomas traded to the Jets

They probably flipped a coin. Heads he goes to New York, tails you go to the Browns

???
We need 3 WR's, a backup and perhaps an emergency backup. I'm fine with White being the emergency WR if two WR's leave.

We have no need for Gunner to play WR
We have no need for Gunner to play WR
We have no need for Gunner to play WR
We have no need for Gunner to play WR

Harry can't practice for six weeks or play until week eight at the earliest. That's a long time to get Gunner reps in the slot so IMO we're talking six WRs and Slater....one too many at some point before Harry comes back.

However it shakes out, the Pats WR group is DEATH.

You can be pretty darn near certain Thomas is happy with the trade since he obviously asked for it. I'm guessing the Patriots gave him and his agent permission to talk to other teams, since it's in his best interest to keep this contract and the Patriots best interest to get any type of return. Thomas knows Gase, so this is a pretty obvious dot connection.

Unless you really think Belichick and the Jets just decided to make a deal with each other for the first time in 20 years.

From the Penthouse to the S*#thouse.

There will be lots of transactions between now and the trade deadline, when we would need money for Gronk.

In any case, Ebner is far from the bottom of the roster.

Ebner is sticking at this point unless Gronk wants to come back imo.

How many reasons does one need?

.

Honestly I have not heard a single good reason yet except to shave off somewhere between 1-2M in cap space while at the same time weakening our ST. Ebner is a core ST player and a key cog there.

At some point roster management is about putting together a strong team and not just finding ways to save money. By your logic why not cut Slater ?

And now Gronk tweets out eye emoji

$1-2mill? More like $2,187,500 - - no? And he's a UFA after the season. Gunner is now an extra ST'er and Obi is a steal for our PS.

Yes, we lose something without Ebner, no doubt. But the logistics line up. I don't think he's safe right now. Doesn't mean it's certain at all, but it bears looking at. A lot may be riding on the Cannon situation.

.

They did DT dirty lol but that's football.

I don't see the connection. They basically paid Brown Gronk's reserve fund two days ago. This has no effect at all on the tight end position either.

Gronk tweets an eye emoji? LOL, with the WR group they have now he'd probably feel like the SB is his first day of training camp...no pain.

Yeah, i dont care at all the he went to the jets, cause they won't challange us for a title this year

But i do feel bad for DT....

Literally had started a "we'll never see DT in a Pats uniform" post when they got AB. No, really, honest. But of course didn't see this. BB obviously doesn't feel particularly threatened by DT nor the Jets to do this.

And with Obi on the PS, that is a LOT of depth for STs. I'm not sure Ebner is safe at this point.

His cap hit is $2,787,500 and his dead cap hit is only $600,000.

Nate Ebner

.

Ebner's salary is guaranteed (now that he played game one)? So, we'd have to trade him?

Don't forget Maurice Harris who is recovering still and unsigned.

Thomas may have requested NYC area.

Gronk will be our move tight end!!! He's returning!!! Holy ****
