Chargers defense had no chance last season in the playoffs against a weaker receiving core.

Charger's Derwin James looks like he's going to be something special and that defense could get a lot better as the season progresses.

We don't know if Derwin even comes off IR this year.

Curran is just mimicking the revisionist history coming from the Steeler organization and all to anxiously distributed by their lackeys in the media.

It’s really sad to see what’s happening to that franchise. 50 years of culture built by Noll and Cowher is disintegrating right before our eyes.

You have kept calling him "Hawt Take" for at least 4-5 days straight in various threads and yet for some reason you keep listening to his podcast. Why ?
Because he's entertaining! :D I just don't take his takes too seriously. Like him thinking Tomlin is good!

Why is the media, even the Boston media, still running with the story that Brown uploaded the phone call with Gruden in order to get the axe?

That has already been debunked.

As has Mortensen's story about the social media guys.

I don't buy the entire premise here.

Sure, Brown behaved like a meathead for skipping team meetings. But--he's not the first guy to do that.

And yes, that was perfectly deserving of a fine from Mayock.

From there, this all went downhill. Brown lost his cool because of the fine, and the ball got rolling. I do believe his apology was contrite, but the next thing that hit him sent him over the top. His contract was practically voided. He'd lost millions. Of course I then believe he did what he could to get released.

But the phone call and the media consultants? They were there when the phone call happened, and they say they got Gruden's approval to post it. I'm sure Brown wanted it up because Gruden called him the most misunderstood man.

I just don't get why the Boston media is treating all this as "crazy" when all it really is is Brown not showing up, as he did in Pittsburgh.

No way this guy purposely lost $30m. I refuse to believe that. No way this was a plan. It backfired on him. That's what happened.

But--I have to say--I do like the narrative that is out there of people thinking he is totally undependable, people hoping he blows up badly, because that is just more fuel for the fire.

BS. AB is one of the best route runner I’ve ever seen. Period.
This. I don't know where this AB freelances comes from. Up until the pissing contest with the Steelers he was universally thought to be one of the best route runners in the game aside from Ben blaming AB for a terrible interception on the goal line (as Ben is wont to do). He's not the fastest, he's not the biggest, he uses his route running to get open. ESPN actually did a Sport Science segment on how precise a route runner he is.

And another site that breaks down how he uses his route running ability to get open.

Antonio Brown is the Best Route Runner in the NFL—Here's What You Can Learn From Him

Up to and including going to the Jets next year I would guess.

The Jets could market their new offense as the 2020 version of the killer B's. Their fans would buy it hook, line and sinker.

Should they try to accommodate him and give him #84 or say suck it up buttercup and give him a new number? Apparently mr Kraft handles all of the numbers so ultimately it’ll be up to him. I think the problem is that Oakland accommodated him too much.

Plays full year, then signs with the jets in the offseason. My guess is a 5 year deal worth around 70 mil.

Apparently there's a rule none of us knew about before the AB saga preventing players from switching jersey numbers during the regular season. So Watson isn't even allowed to give up his #84.

That was the problem with the whole helmet saga. It wasn’t the raiders, his problem was with the league. Apparently special exceptions could be made but I’m not sure how willing they would be to accommodate him.

Definitely wouldn't be unprecedented for an exception to be made. The league seems willing to make uniform exceptions as of recently. The Browns and Rams both have special permission to wear alternate uniforms whenever they want, for example.

Belichick should let Brown know that he will not be given 84. If Antonio's response is "that's fine sir, thank you for the opportunity", then Bill says, "that was just a test Antonio and you passed with flying colors, "we're giving you 84". If instead, Brown throws a tantrum, that would be a preview of coming attractions.
BTW, did he get a haircut?

But Watson hasn't technically been on the active roster yet this season.

If AB keeps his head right, it's hard to imagine us not making the superbowl this year if we stay healthy.

What we have is an overwhelming likelihood that, barring critical injuries, the Patriots and Chiefs will be the top 2 seeds in the AFC playoffs. And, we have an overwhelming likelihood that the AFCCG will be between those two teams. Beyond that, I'd say that there are too many variables to be overly confident about either team's chances in that game, right now.

Who did they release to add him??

You were right, counselor. AB has a voidable year in his deal and high incentives. That, plus his status as a vested veteran, keeps the risk to the $5 million signing bonus should things go sideways before he plays a down for the Patriots. I'd love to see the language in the deal to see if there are specific prohibitions about social media, recording devices, etc.

I'll take Thanksgiving....followed by Gronk returning

So, you believe that KC is an overwhelming favorite to beat BALT in the divisional round of the playoffs?

I think one of our posters said it best.
