Why was Thomas inactive instead of Meyers? Could BB looking to trade Thomas? As a side issue, Thomas has a cap hit of $2.9M.

He was less healthy ........

I don't think so, unless Thomas sees a reduced role and wants to get out in light of the Brown acquisition. But I thought his goal was to play for a contender and slowly rehab back anyway, so I doubt he wants out.

Thomas had been on the injury report all week.

I'd keep all of them and let 1 sit out each week ... eventually 1 or 2 will be injured.

Bill makes a killing on the veterans market because he knows how to treat them.

Having DT sign back as a free agent only to then trade him to a team he won't have any choice over is very bad form.

Young guys, no problem - but he wouldn't do this to a respected, time served VET who played along with the roster juggling a week ago.

And when 2 are injured, we will decide whether to have 3 or 4 active, depending on game plan.

OK

I would think that Thomas and his agent would approve any move.

Agree he would treat Thomas right.

Now Myers has trade value. He made a tough catch on a good route. Whole bunch of film on him both in college and preseason. Long term cheap control. That is worth a bunch to a team who feels it's wide receivers are not that good. How about Oakland's 5th round (should be near the top) from Pittsburgh for him.

I would hope not, Thomas has real value to this team as Gordon relapse insurance.

What do you think the trade compensation would be?

A 5th rounder feels extremely optimistic, a 6th/7th most likely,

DT would also be then locked into the contract he signed here, for better or worse.

I just think the logistics, coupled with the likely compensation make it unlikely.

If DT moves on, it'll be because we released him, in my opinion.

a 5th rounder for an UDFA? maybe a 6th. besides, do they have a 5th?

No they are not looking to trade him

I feel that the return on investment (for the Patriots) is quite low here - we don't really know what Meyers ceiling is (you don't need elite speed or measurables to be a legit No.1/No.2 in this league) - he has flashed pretty hard during limited exposure.

I think AB will be gone by next season, Edelman (love the guy) isn't getting any younger. We need the next young and affordable generation of WRs - Meyers could be part of that (along with Harry).

The Steelers are desperate. Trade DT to the Steelers for the 3 and the 5 they got from the Raiders. Wouldn’t that be sweet.
