All we can do is hope AB doesn't get himself wrapped around the axle over touches and is satisfied with a handful a game.

Fortunately, I think JE11 is content enough with less.

Not sure about Josh but I suspect he'll be quiet.

Either way if AB starts *****ing about targets he will get rained on by a bunch a people and strongly suggest he STFU

The ROI for the NFL’s most highly-paid wide receivers was atrocious in Week 1. Which, of course, should be completely ignored...and instead let’s push some more running back compensation talk

I thought the offense looked great.

I can't say that the Pats wouldn't be better with AB though. There's no denying his ability, is there?

There's also the potential losses at WR that could make him very valuable later on in the season.

Brown is Revis on the other side of the ball. I hope it drives the rest of the NYFL nuts. I especially wonder what Goody and the Parityarians feel.

1960, they have Demarius Thomas and N'Keal Harry in the wings. Not to mention Ben Watson and Lance Kendricks.

Which OL player is in the wings for this team for the long haul???

I certainly agree with you regarding the "trolling the NFL" angle - - it's pricelessly entertaining. But this team has some roster issues in other areas that could use some addressing.

Let's explore.
I guess we would be guaranteeing a portion of Brown's 2020 salary, and of course half of his bonus would be pushed to 2020.

The open question is how we would structure NLTBE incentives of $6M.
=====
Alternative
2019 salary - $1M guaranteed Cap HIT $1M
2019 incentives - $6M Cap hit depends on how much is NLTBE (e.g. bonuses for playoff games, AFC championship and Super Bowl; all NLTBE for Brown)
2020 salary - $8M guaranteed

Alternative 2
2019 bonus of $8M instead of 2020 salary; this would result in $4M cap for the bonus and $1M for the 2019 salary for a total of $9M with $6M in NLTBE incentives.

Redo the deal in 2020 or hit the market.

The math works but I don't the AB will be a happy camper with those numbers.

I thought that Brown agreed to $9M guaranteed plus $6M in incentives.

Alternative 2 gives him the $9M this year, $8M immediately. The incentive don't depend on his reps and catches, only on whether the patriots make the playoffs and how deep they go.

This is the best I could do for the team and AB given the $9m/$15M constraints.

No you are right.

What I did not explain fully was unless Rosenhaus can talk him down to earth I think AB will want more guaranteed $ in 2020.

"The Patriots offered the Redskins a first-round pick in a trade for disgruntled left tackle Trent Williams but Washington rebuffed the offer, a source with knowledge of the situation told NBC Sports Washington. ....."

I think that one was already denied strongly by some beat guys in the know saying that the Redskins were just trying to stir up some more interest by mentioning the Pats.

perhaps, but then the contract won't be signed.

Say what you want, but I think AB will have his act together...maybe will even be back for yr 2:

I like how catching 15TDs would have qualified as a LTBE incentive

So, a cap hit of $3.5M plus game roster bonuses which I believe count against this year's cap.

So if i’m calculating correctly, that makes a 2019 cap charge of $5,968,750. $9m signing bonus spread over 2 years, and was on the 46 for 15 of the 16 games last year so only 15/16 of that roster bonus is LTBE.

Does next year's guaranteed money count against this year's cap?

I believe the game bonus don't count until the games are played.

Per Miguel:

Which would make his 2019 cap number $6M or $5,968,750 depending on if the 500K is divided by 15 games or 16 games.
