Who's out/extended/sacrificed to fit AB's contract?

Knowing that both Gordon and AB can be gone on a moment’s notice, and that AB is gonna be a one-year rental at best, I would hate for them to ditch Dorsett or any young WR prospect they think will actually work out.

I was thinking that it makes sense for Gunner or J. Meyers to be out now. But they could potentially clear waivers and land on our practice squad. I think Meyers seems like a really good WR prospect, not a world beater but a solid role player for us. Gunner too potentially.
Maybe they release Burkhead instead? I don't know his contract but it might make sense. I guess it depends on the Damien Harris injury and stuff.

They just added a WR, it makes sense to dump a WR. Plus they hopefully have Harry coming back at some point. My gut tells me Dorsett (possibly in a trade - 6th or 7th) unless Gunner totally craps the bed tonight as the punt returner.

Cutting Dorsett would be terrible, he is the WR after JE that has the most familiarity with this offense and Brady trusts him . That is more valuable than anything !

Yup. It would be one thing if one knew that Gordon and AB and Thomas will last the year. But Gordon could fail a test tomorrow, AB could flip out in a week or two, and Thomas's achilles may hamper him more than people are expecting. With all those question marks I can't see how you could ditch Dorsett.

Whoever it is the Raiders will probably pick him up as payback or spin it as a trade.

Maybe we can trade one of our WRs to the Raiders? I think the Raiders need a WR? :D

plus any transaction(s) that may be needed to free up cap room

Brown and Bodine in, Ferentz and (Gunner?/Meyers?/Dorsett?) out could be in play for a Monday double move.

And then there's the Kendricks decision to be made...

Call it what you will. The raiders can use a WR, and I would think that they SHOULD pick up whatever WR we cut.

The most said guess was right

This is on paper a 2 year deal. Gonna do a lot to help spread out the Cap

I think DT gets traded or cut. If AB works out Harry stays on IR for the year. Gunnar will do punt returns and we need to keep Meyers to develop for the future.

Hopefully they'll be able to trade him for additional cap relief

The Patriots might not really need to do much of ANYTHING with this being a 2 year deal. They basically need to just free up half the guaranteed money in 2019.

After last night, I have to say, I love this team. There is nobody that I'd readily give up alongside $15M for Antonio Brown. I'm sure he'll be great, but I think this team has bigger needs. They've got plenty of good receivers this year. I'd like to see that $15 spent next year on a TE or DLman who can play.

That said, who gets cut? We've got plenty of WRs. I assume one of them goes. Do we let a promising rookie in Myers walk. (He's unlikely to make the PS.) Does DT get cut to make room for a head case? Do we cut our punt returner/gunner Gunner and sign him to the PS and find someone else to play STs? Do Cannon (heaven forfend) or DT look hurt enough to get IR'd for 8 weeks? Does anyone have a better notion than the above?

Somebody may go on IR.

Both Cannon and LeCosse may go to IR. We still would need a find a roster spot, since these players would need to be replaced by an OT and a TE.

Somebody may go on IR.

after last night and with Thomas and Watson coming back soon, im not sure there is a spot. someone will go the IR unfortunately

Brown, Edelman, Gordon, Dorsett, Thomas, Meyers and Olszweski is clearly too many receivers. Add in Harry in six weeks and it's downright absurd. Somebody ought to go...but I don't want to let go of any of them. Aside from concerns about continued availability this year, Brown, Gordon, Dorsett and Thomas are ALL on one-year deals. Giving up the inexpensive rookies could just leave the cupboard bare again at the end of the season.

At this point, with Harry still on IR, I'm inclined to keep them all and risk going thin elsewhere, cutting a player like Obi or LaCosse.

When I watch 33 year old Edelman take those thousand over-the-middle hits, I say the more good receivers the better. And that one hit that Gordon took wd have ended my career twice over. Also, no tight ends for awhile, and then an Old one... I'm sure BB has the bigger picture down. In fact, let's not forget Tom's good ole Age... Stidham would need top weapons to bring the season off.

Thomas is in some ways an obvious cut. His only performance, while excellent, was against 2nd teamers in preseason, and he's on a one-year.

But he's got great character and a very positive club-house presence, and the Patriots may really, really need that in the next couple of weeks. Plus, he's tall. I kept thinking that the red zone "failures" might have been different last night if TB could have thrown a fade to him.
