OL
Who will we add?
Will we add two? (a center and a tackle)
Hopefully, we can cut Ferentz.
How long will Cannon be out? Does he need to go on IR until after the bye?

WR
We will add Brown.
Who will we cut or trade? How many? Meyers? Thomas? (I would cut Meyers)

TE
Who will be our TE's for Game Two?

CAP
What if any extensions or restructures will happen?

Meyers is too good of a young talent to cut. Gunner is too good on special teams to cut. The obvious move is DT to IR.

It’s a tough call but I think you cut DT. The receiving group is going to be a log jam of talent and we might as well save that last spot for a young player who has potential to rise up for us in the future.

I don't want any of these guys cut, how about Cannon to IR since I doubt he will play for at least awhile, we can then figure it out !

I was looking forward to seeing what DT could do with Brady, I really would hate to see him cut for a guy who has issues that need to be worked out first.

The team needs youth at WR moving forward. DT to IR or his team of choice for a low draft pick (Seattle?).

It is a unique roster predicament. I can’t see them cutting Meyers though.

cannon to IR is irrelevant to the WR situation.
If Cannon goes to IR, we need to add an OT.

I wonder if they could trade DT for an OL.

More likely is to trade DT for a pick, and to use a pick for an OL. The 2 transactions need not both be with the same team.

Many were already expecting a trade for an OL.

I wonder if they could trade DT for an OL.

That would be ideal. If not do the right thing and let DT go.

I don't how obiwann will be more valuable to the team than Thomas.

The issue is cap space. We would need to trade for a very cheap OT

I still vote for no TEs until Watson returns

There are several ways to create cap space.

Are you suggesting no substitute for Cannon?

There’s gonna have to be some serious cap movement to add Antonio Brown. I’m thinking Edelman and Gilmore will have to restructure. How much will cutting Thomas save us ?

The cap experts on the board can probably figure it out better than I can. But 9 mill guaranteed is big bucks, and I thought we only had 4.5 mill cap space ? So it’s gonna have to be genius capology to figure this out, but obviously it’s been done already, otherwise they wouldn’t have signed him.

Me personally, I really want to keep all of our WR’s. I’d love to see Edelman, Gordon, Brown, Thomas, Dorsett & Meyers stay. Gordon & Brown are potentially gone by mid season (keeping my fingers crossed), so if Thomas leaves, we won’t have that option if Gordon & Brown leave. Luckily we have Harry coming back as well.

One WR will likely have to go. DT was good to very good after his trade to the Texans last year but the Pats need to get younger, including at WR. I would love to keep all three but it’s not realistic.

Gunner really only has special-teams value at this point but his poise tonight impressed me. He did not seem at all nervous or rattled by the big stage. He also clearly has a gift as a punt returner, Which is not easy to find..

Meyers would likely be inactive more often than not but they aren’t going to get him onto the practice squad and I think he has legitimate WR2/3 potential going forward, just not this year.

I’m leaning towards releasing DT but I’m not happy about that. I don’t think that he would accept Going on IR, given his low base Along with the fact that he doesn’t really have an injury which would justify an 8 week break, Unless the Achilles is still bothering him. They would likely have to give him an injury settlement and set him free anyway.

To go through all of training camp, make it to the 53 just to be cut is gonna suck for whoever they are. Personally I’m guessing Kendricks and or lacosse.

As far as fitting AB under the cap they could probably rework Masons contract and push money out

Are you people who now want to move Thomas the same people who wanted to move Dorsett?

Also, the logical moves are:

  • Brown in, Gunner out, unless the team has soured on Meyers, in which case he's the logical cut
  • Bodine in, Ferentz out
  • OT TBD
  • TE as a decision between LaCosse and Kendricks, since Izzo is the best blocker of the 3

edit: Just to be clear about my position: I'm not saying that there's no way Thomas gets moved on from. I'm just saying that the more logical play is to try getting either Meyers or Gunner onto the practice squad. But BB, obviously, has better info about where Thomas is in his (physical) recovery right now, just as he has better info about which NFL teams, if any, are likely to gamble on putting either Meyers or Gunner on the 53 for the 3 game minimum.

As of right now the defense is healthy and the offense is not. Maybe make a move on defense to open up a spot? There are too many mouths to feed on that side of the ball anyway. A cut or trade to free up a spot and some salary could make sense.

Roberts is worth 2M and he didn't get to do anything tonight even with Van Noy out. He didn't even end up with a single tackle and I don't recall him out there much. How much will he really play? His STs is only passable. Add in the fact I think this team could do well with having a guy like Collins out there more often and Bentley showing up nicely. I don't see a role for him. Too many other guys I would rather have on the field and not enough snaps.

It's a good time to move on Wise perhaps? He isn't worth much money but I don't see a future for him in this defense. His sack was very unimpressive TBH and he did nothing else tonight.

Obi is another guy they can cut and try to sneak on. He is going to be inactive all year unless something happens anyway. I would rather keep Meyers or Gunner over him.

The offense has a certain amount of uncertainties moving forward and the defense is so damn loaded people found themselves complaining about who was inactive and not able to play tonight.
