Is this the most talented WR trio ever?

I’m purely going by talent, not by reliability.

I can’t think of a better trio at WR than Brown, Edelman and Gordon when they’re all three on the field. I genuinely can’t think of one I’ve ever seen better.

Maybe the 13 Broncos? But even then I’ll take all three of those guys over an old Welker and Eric Decker.

04 Colts
08 Cardinals
11/12 Steelers
10 Packers
00/01 Rams

Just playing devil’s advocate

What about 98 Vikings?

The Rams greatest show has to be up there. Bruce, Holt, then Hakim or Proehl or even Faulk.

Maybe? But Jake Reed was not very productive that year, so hard to say.

That is true but he did have multiple 1000 yard seasons.

I’m not counting Faulk, just WR’s. Hakim and Proehl aren’t quite on their levels either.

I don't know about trio, but top to bottom? Maybe.

I mean, the 98 Vikes are the only trio I would even remotely consider

Could be. But I know it’s not fair because we have the GOAT throwing to them. Instantly elevates their performance.

Yes it is, I always thought Edelman was the most underrated wr ever, then we add a top 3 wr, and Gordon at his peak is as good as anyone, then the backups can start on some teams. I really think Meyers might be the best of the rookie wrs.

At a minimum, it has to be the best bottom of a wr depth chart of all time...

Yeah that's what immediately came to mind for me. Jake Reed was coming off 4 straight 1100+ yard seasons in '98, having him as WR3 behind Moss and Carter was pretty nuts. Similar type of dynamic in that you had two clear WR1-caliber players and a guy who's arguably an overqualified WR2 playing all the way down at WR3, but in terms of pure, absurd greatness I don't think any of our guys are up to '98 Moss level.

Our WR4/5 are definitely better than the '98 Vikings' were though.

Different, more run-heavy era. You weren't going to see 3 guys get 100 targets in 1998, so Reed was kinda the odd man out purely in terms of opportunity. Went from consistently getting 120+ targets to getting 68. I think Reed's skill level was well-established by that point, though - he had 4 straight years of 1100+ yards and was arguably the best WR2 in the league (it was basically him vs. McCardell IIRC).

Could see a similar, albeit less severe, sort of decline in Edelman's volume stats as well. If Brown and Gordon stay healthy and locked in, I could see one of the three getting a lot fewer targets and ending up with something like 700 yards. Wouldn't mean the guy got worse, just that we have an offense with 3 WRs whose talent warrants 100+ targets, and they probably aren't all getting that.

If Gordon was peak form/closer to, it would come close. That 2013 Gordon was just supernatural. Dude nearly had 1,700 receiving yards lol.

We should have drafted DK Metcalf.

I could see this to be true. Couple years ago I wished Gordon was a Patriot. Ditto with AB. Now they are both here and it is incredible and almost unbelievable. Are they the best? May be.
