totally irrelevant, if the contract calls for a guaranteeI just realized that if he signs today, he can't play tomorrow so we are off the hook as far as a guaranteed salary.

We are now the The Golden State Warriors of the NFL.

I don't think that's an unreasonable assessment, for what it's worth. It's totally possible this whole summer was a galaxy brain attempt to force his way to a team he wanted to play for as opposed to the team the Steelers wanted him to play for.

Maybe the Jones extension made it happen? It's been suggested there could be a 2nd year option that backloads a lot of cap cost, similar to Revis' deal here.

When was he last with Pixburgh? I lost track. No signings on Sundays, so he can't play until next week. But he could be an info-signing, where he spills then they do a one-day deal.
Or, we could just need a receiver.
What were we before?

that "it was all planned" angle is brilliant, but I'll do you one better. The Raiders faked ever really having him in camp in order for him to play and Gruden read a script on that phone call. The Raiders organization has secretly been an in-league farm team for the Patriots since 2006.
