AB threatens to retire (Helmet-Gate)

You know what? I have changed my mind. I want AB. The guy is ****ing nuts. But I bet he's got a huge chip on his shoulder now after everything and one year with him is good enough for another SB. You know he'd do it just to piss everyone off

He wouldn't, though. Unless we gave him a record setting deal. That's the thing about him hitting free agency. He's going to demand the top contract in history because that's how he sees himself and no team will give it to him so he'll stay unemployed. It's not unlike Kaepernick in that way.

The most angry folks right now should be Vegas taxpayers.

Regards,
Chris

I think PFT just set a record, 9 consecutive stories on AB.

What I find amazing is that AB has NO ONE in his entourage that will sit him down and get him to just STOP. Like a poster earlier mentioned his fire back posting AFTER his supposed apology was done with the help of others who abetted this insane behavior.

I mean all the guy had to do was shut up and play the game. He couldn't let it go. And while I image there is rejoicing in Pittsburgh, there should also be shame. They were the organization that evidently taught him this behavior was OK.

I was among those who would have liked to have AB on the Pats. I figured that between Brady and Bellichick he'd have 2 leaders he'd HAVE to respect and a team culture he could find comfort in. But after snatching defeat from the jaws of victory with this last move, I see that his kind of crazy won't be contained even by the Pats strong team culture.

What a shame. Hard to see a talent like his self destruct in public.

They couldn't even fix the guy from snorting lines on a vertical mirror and getting blazed like Method Man and Redman from How High.

What would Belichick or Brady say that would even make Brown focus on football?

On the surface it looks like they threw away a 6th for Bodine but it might be for cap reasons and he may be back in week. They could toss a bone to Mayock and get a player that is motivated to show people up for what he perceives they did. I'd try to get him plain and simple.

So, after all the crap, Gruden shakes his pinky and says we are all good and you will be playing Sunday. Then later that night they fine him $215,000, void $29 million dollars of his bonuses, and then say they expect him to play Sunday. However he got there, and it is of course his fault, pretty sure that wasn't a good way to handle things.

Oh, he can play on Sunday, no prob. But in their MONDAY night game this week - - problematic. It's the old "Give him the wrong day to show up" trick! :D

I don’t think the Steelers should feel shame or responsibility for his almost psychotic behavior...
Wrong.
...They didn’t teach him that this was “OK”...
Wrong.
...If anything you could look back and think how the **** did they keep him semi in line all these years?
And wrong.

Would anyone really be surprised if this ended with a self-inflicted gunshot to the head in a parking lot?
I simply cannot believe the complicity of those around him to allow it to have gotten to this point. His agent should be decertified. It is shameful!

He has a wife and kids. That would be horrible. Yes, the thought does come to mind. I hope he is getting help.

.

I can’t help but wonder what the relationship between gruden and mayock is like

This is insane behavior even for ab. Where are his loved ones? Get him some help. He needs specialists... a little more than Jon Gruden and mike tomlin goin “what the hell is goin on man?!”

I hear ya Cap'n, but nobody knows how much Tomlin enabled this guy to miss meetings, etc. all along without confronting him like Mayock did. Remember, for many years that Steelers team was, in fact, the most talented in the NFL. And they underperformed that. Had they kept him in line, Tomlin would've actually won at least ONE SB championship with him on the team. It's the reason why Tomlin is on such a hot seat. That livestream for his Facebook after the playoff game in Jan 2017 didn't merit any punishment I know from Tomlin. He openly fought with Roethlisberger and was a distraction throughout his time in Pittsburgh. He eventually shot his way out of town to the effect that the Steelers got only a 3rd and a 5th rounder?? AND they still have to pay him $21.2 million for NOT being on the team????

Is moving on from Antonio Brown a realistic option?

So, in summation, the Steelers will be paying AB this year while the Raiders probably won't.......

I wouldn't put that one down in the win column for Tomlin at all.

That's the point. They didn't. They enabled this behavior behind closed doors and when they couldn't take it any more they shipped the problem and all the baggage to Oakland.

After the fact reports from Pittsburgh chronicled the fact that he missed meeting, etc. Yet they didn't fine him or punish this behavior because his on field successes were obvious. But it had to have a toll on the team, and COULD be one of the reasons why so many of those extremely talented teams failed so often to get over the hump. AND conversely why so many LESS talented Patriot rosters out performed them when it counted.

And wrong.

Wait I thought the 21 mil was the hit to the Steelers salary cap, not money they have to pay him?

The reason why most star players without Super Bowl rings act out is because they don’t respect the team they are on. With that being said, The only team where I think Brown would actually shut his mouth would be the Pats because he would get run out of the room if he tried to disrespect Brady, BB or any of the other veterans on the team. The reason why most veterans that were “problems” on their former teams but are on their best behavior with the Pats is because they aren’t the “alpha dogs” on their team anymore. Brown would get put in his place fast.
I don't disagree with your thought process. You made all the important points that I made when I thought AB COULD fit in here. However these latest antics made me think that AB had elevated to a new and different level of crazy that even the Pats strong culture couldn't absorb.

I’m starting to think AB is crazy like a fox. He knows the Raiders suck and he won’t be winning anything there so he temporarily damages his reputation to get released. He can then sign a less lucrative 1 year deal with a contender, try to win a championship, rehab his image and then be. a FA next year to sign a longer term big money deal.

Is it a risk? Sure but if winning is a big goal of his, he may be willing to gamble.

Or he really is bat$hit crazy.

What a piece of work this dude is.

If Clowntonio starts walking your way, Bill, then turn around and start walking - quickly - the other way.

Or just walk right through him

If BB gets him all the negative Nellies will be instantly on board. It's the way it works.

Can a player be IR’d for “NFI — Mental health”?
