I would agree he is the worst LB. In the company of KVN, High, Jamie, Bentley ,I don't think that is the same as saying he is the second coming of Jordan Richards.

I'm easily taking Roberts over Bentley. Roberts has his limitations in coverage but I don't know if you can play much better than he did at the end of last season.

Okay. So who do you feel on the Pats should be qualified as an ILB? Lets take baby steps first to get to some answers.

Roberts is no All-Pro, but don't believe he deserves the Richards level criticism he seems to get at times.

Well, how you do classify OUTSIDE linebackers and INSIDE linebackers?

Granted, we don't have the most rigid system, but i cant recall when Roberts was positioned at either extreme of the Front... His blitzes and shots are normally inside the Line too. The fact that he usually (as in more than other LBs) covers RBs, another indication of his job being to be inside the markers

i don't get the confusion... Just because we have a flexible system, we don't name their positions as they clearly are?

I think Bentley showed (4 preseason, 3 reg season games) he was already better than Roberts in coverage and playmaking. In terms of picking the right gap to stuff they seemed equal which is crazy for a rookie. Before he got to NE he lost ~15 lbs. Was 265 and showed up at 250. I think that really helped him transition to the speed of play in the NFL.

With that said I obviously think Bentley is really, really good. Potentially special.

Roberts is quite a surprise

its cool that they still voted Andrews in

Good for Roberts. He has improved and I can't remember him pissing me off in the final stretch of games last year. Also, Bentley didn't impress this preseason enough for me to see him as a replacement.

Andrews a captain is cool. I expect our pass protection to be hurt some by his absence but our run game may be better with the bigger Karras.

Elandon Roberts has improved at all facets of the game. Your simply not paying attention or you refuse to noticed if you doubt that. That being said...I'm a little surprised he's a team caption...but good for him.
his play has improved over the past year to the point where he is a serviceable NFL player. Anyone who has not seen this clear progression in his game has simply not been paying attention.
Belize gets a demerit for plagiarism.

What do Team captains actually do? Is it a popularity title?

I hope Andrews gets out there at the end of the season.

- What do captains do anyways?
- It seems like the captains each represent a different positional group (offense, RBs, OL, DBs, front seven, special teams), why have two LB captains?

RW,

I love you , but think you are being too kind in calling him mediocre. ;);)
I would say he's our worst linebacker on the team and would go one step further and say he's our worst defensive player on the team. I understand that he's well respected in the locker room, but still surprised that he is a captain.
