Players that you have been wrong about

Adalius Thomas. He was a 3 time All-Pro coming off a 11 sack season and should have been entering the prime of his career.
Instead we got a malcontent troublemaker who was my least favorite Pat in the BB era.

But he was really good at making t-shirts

If I listed them all, we'd be here for a minute. I'll go with what came off the top of my head...

I thought they'd be not so great and turned out at least pretty good:

James White: I didn't get the hype and really thought of him as preseason fodder at one point. Whoops.

Logan Ryan: I didn't think I saw anything special in him. He didn't turn out to be a superstar, but he was solid, far beyond what I thought he'd be.

Kyle Van Noy: I figured he'd be gone in a week.

Any OL rookies: I simply can't evaluate these guys; every single one that turned out to be good was a bust in my "eye test". I don't even worry about evaluating those guys on any level.

I thought they'd be great and turned out to be something less than:

Patrick Chung* (first time): He was my first and last true binky during the preseason. I really really believed he was going to be the next Rodney Harrison and was pretty bummed when that didn't turn out to be the case. Of course, he's since been extremely solid.

Ras-I Dowling: Like so many here...I had hopes...

Adalius Thomas: I bragged before the 2007 season about how this guy was our next cornerstone linebacker; he'd be the game changer, etc. ****...

Brandon Tate: He had that one TD against the Vikings in 2010 and I thought that was the key, that would be his breakout game to start his long career with us.

I have to admit, their was a time period where I thought Jules should be cut. Never dreamed he would become much better than Welker. I was totally wrong on Edelman's ceiling.

I thought Stevan Ridley was a terrible pick. He ended up becoming very good.

I thought Mallet would develop into a very good NFL Gunslinger

I thought Logan Ryan was not NFL caliber. Totally wrong.

I thought Easley would develop into a stud. LOL

I thought Stork was far better than Andrews. Bigger LOL

I thought Tre Jackson would become a really good O line starter

Biggest things I was right on

I cried when BB drafted Cunningham over teammate Dunlap. I was a big gator fan that year. I watched all the games. Not only was Dunlap the king of that line and a far better playmaker, there was not one sequence on film when Cunningham even stuck out as being a guy who was even close to Dunlap's class. Maybe BB's worst pick of all time, after home runs with Mccourty and Gronk. Could have hit the trifecta with Dunlap

I screamed at the TV for the patriots to draft Keenan Allen over Aaron Dobson. Allen was so much better in College and a far better route runner

I called 4th round pick Shaq Mason as developing into pro bowl caliber

I watched Asante Samuel in college and said he would become a very good playmaker in the NFL

A month ago I was excited about Mike Pennel making this team.

I thought that both Brandon McGowan and Sterling Moore were good enough to play some type of role here. I also thought that Josh Kline was a serviceable backup interior lineman for our team.

I was in the same boat as you.

At the time I was confused and angry that Belichick - a head coach coming off a 5-11 season, three wins fewer than the previous year -would waste a draft pick on a position that had apparently been solidified and set in stone for the next several years, based on the contract extension that kraft had given Bledsoe.

At the time it made no sense at all. It came across as a completely clueless move, considering that the draft pick would be number four on the depth chart.

If anybody was to become the heir apparent it was Michael Bishop.

Year 2000, Drew Bledsoe and Nomar Garciaparra: Boston’s most solidified icons.

Ray Lewis. I thought he would be one of the smartest players in NFL history but after one of his famous speeches I changed my mind.

I'll add:
Stephon Gilmore - looking at old threads the other day and many of us here hated Gilmore's guts a good way into 2017. Lol.

Josh Boyce - thought that kid was going to turn into a stud. Instead he looked basically half asleep at all times :(

Ross Ventrone.......particularly the period between the 7th and 8th cut and re-sign.

..

Stork was better than Andrews.

-Law Firm (I figured he’d fumble at least once)
-Cassius Marsh
-Mike Pennel
-I thought Tiquan Underwood would be the second coming :D

Most recent one for me is Berrios

I thought Duane Starks would be good.

Thought Monty Beisel would emerge as a sideline to sideline LB.

Thought Jonathan Sullivan could get his s__t together here w his buddy Sey helping him.

Stork lost the job because of injuries and was never able to get better. He ended up being traded to Washington, failed the physical and was cut.
I'm aware of his history but your claim is he was a better football player than Andrews is today.

No it wasn't, the quote was "I thought Stork was far better than Andrews, Bigger LOL". I think Stork was better than Andrews before he got hurt. If the quote was, Andrews was going to stay healthy and have a much better career than Stork did, I agree. Stork got hurt and really never recovered.

Kind of like saying Bodine is a much better player than Andrews bigger LOL

"Stork was better than Andrews" was your exact quote.

You have clarified your statement which is fine.

Some players that I was wrong about?
Markell Carter
Kanorris Davis
Tyrone McKenzie
Adalius Thomas (at the end, not the first year and a half)
To be fair, had McKenzie not torn up his knee in the rookie minicamp we'll never know how good he could have been.......
