Interesting cuts and transactions throughout the league

Given the garbage receivers they have, this is nuts to me.

So far no surprising cuts. I am still hoping for a Rodney Harrison type of cut at TE.
It’s interesting that they’ve made 3 trades to address OL depth and haven’t lifted a finger to address TE. Perhaps they actually have something schematic in mind, running more with 3+ WR for example as all our WRs seem to be good blockers relative to DBs. And/or they like the TEs more than we know, may have a 6th OL on occasion.

Yup, I think so, at least until a TE appears from somewhere, a trade or otherwise. Maybe Devlin at H back a bit too.

I really liked him coming out. By all accounts a really nice guy too. Maybe a blessing in disguise?

I think the difference is the holes at OL were at the backup positions, which is easier to trade for. The big hole at TE is for a starter - we already have a few TE2-3 types

This is one of the most lopsided transactions in recent memory. Absolutely embarrassing for the Texans.
They would have been better to have him sit out and get nothing?

That's not very Polite from the Jetes.

Hilarious though

3rd round pick (no. 68) this year cut already.

The Jetes cut this year's 3rd round pick, Jachai Polite.. How bad do you have to be for that to happen??? (unless he's injured and they are going to IR him).

While the Seahawks clearly got the better end of this trade Clowney isn't worth 16-17M. He is good but not THAT level of good. For a price like that you want a game changing type player. Clowney is very good but not game changing IMO.

I've always thought the worst kind of players to sign long term are those consolation stars.

The ones when you pay 1-4M less for discount versions of the top guys.

For instance a guy like Dee Ford. As in "He is our Von Miller/Mack/ect" No he isn't. You are paying just 2-3M less for a far inferior player who can be taken away/managed by the top teams.

Clowney to me is in that same ball park. He is like Chandler Jones in a lot of ways. He gets a lot of pressures and sacks but can't really ruin your day when it matters. At least that is my opinion on the player. I know a lot will disagree. The fact is though that he couldn't ruin the Patriots day and was never able to take over a game or force constant double teams or change the way they had to play.

You pay top dollar for a guy who makes you change your game plan. Not for the guy that makes you chip block him while you shrug and absorb the 1-3 bad he will force and continue on as usual.
Agreed w a lot here but you're always over paying in most cases. Its Just the nature of the beast.

Arguing or blocking this trade over a few million would have foolish for Seattle imo. They have around 50-60M tonuse next year I believe.

It's all abt what Clowney brings to that team & how much better he makes Seattle now. Their arent many more perfect fits out there than Seattle/JC imo. Everything about both just complements the other side.

There is no reason to cut him at this point if they want to put him on IR.

If Chase Winovich has half the career that we hope for him, Jets fans will never ever ever ever stop talking about taking Polite over him.

There is if they don't expect him back this year. Waived/Injured. You're assuming that the Jetes current GM is smart enough to cut a veteran and then re-sign him tomorrow after placing Polite on the IR..

They can IR him now without waiving him, he just wouldn't be able to return
