Patriots Cuts

Not open for further replies.
After Friday’s trades and reported cuts, this is where the Patriots stand in their cutdown to 53. The Patriots currently have 79 players on the roster. Watson and Kendrick are facing suspension reducing that number to 77 meaning 24 additional players must be cut, traded, or designated to an injury/illness list by 4 pm today. The following is a list of players still on the roster by position:

QB (3)- Brady, Stidham, Hoyer

RB (8)- Michel, White, Harris, Bolden, Develin, Burkhead, Brossette, Johnson

TE (4 ) - Izzo, LaCosse, Saubert, Anderson

WR (10)- Edelman, Gordon, Thomas, Dorsett, Harry, Meyers, Slater, Olszewski, Berrios, Meredith

OL (14)- Thuney, Mason, Cannon, Wynn, Karras, Eluemunor, Cunningham, Bodine, Andrews, Froholdt, Skipper, Ferentz, Croston, Cajuste

DL (8)- Bennett, Guy, Shelton, Butler, Cowart, Wise, Kamalu, Thurman

Edge (6 )- Winovich, Simon, Calhoun, Rivers, Harris, Wright

LB (7)- Hightower, Van Noy, Collins, Bentley, Roberts, Munson, Hall

CB (7 )- Gilmore, McCourty, Jones, Jackson, Williams, Crossen, Webster

S (7)- McCourty, Chung, Harmon, Brooks, Ebner, Melifonwu, Gant

ST (3)- Gostkowski, Bailey, Cardona

Injured Reserve - Ross, Davis, King
PUP -
NFI -

My plan is to update this post as transactions are reported on Saturday.
Thanks for doing this. Man, those last two or three guys, it’s just agonizing…

Berrios looked good on punt returns but looked very average as a receiver. I was looking forward to seeing him play well, but it never materialized.

I thought O looked better in everything than Berrios did, including punt returns.

Rooting for Gunner as a ST addition.....but it's a LONNNNNNNG shot

Of...

Hoyer
Wise
Rivers
Roberts
Obi
Gunner

...who’s on the 53 tonight?

Of course it’s a long shot, but still..

I think Gunner is going to get cut at the very last minute, or after the deadline, and before the first game. He's good enough to try to sneak to the PS, but at this point doesn't warrant taking up a valuable WR spot.

Obi gunner Rivers and Calhoun whos not on your list

Obi, Calhoun, not sure about Rivers. Gunner is on my list as Mr. Everyman, but PP2 May be right, late cut and PS.

Calhoun is good enough to be on the 53. The only question is whether he is injured enough to have to be put on IR tomorrow.

I think Patriots cut Rivers in the hope that no-one will be prepared to stash him on a roster for 3 weeks due to injury. Practice Squad return likely depending on the severity of his injury. Wise is a versatile player and would provide good depth so I feel he makes it.

I also think its Gunner vs Obi for the last ST spot.

Hoyer is the toughest one. Unless spmeone offers a pick/player that is too much to refuse, I see him on the active roster.
