Former Pats TE Jermaine Wiggins "97% Chance Gronk Returns later this year"

next generation TE? Like who?

I won't speak for him, but I think it's more next generation of Patriots stars, regardless of position. Prior to Gronk, the non-Brady faces of the franchise weren't TE's.

Until Gronk has started his next "career" I think the speculation will continue. I doubt it will happen but do hold out hope that he comes back mid season. Not just for his ability but for his personality and presence. An extremely fun player and person to root for. TE remains a gaping hole in the offense right now and if a healthy Gronk was added mid season the additional options he opens up could take them to the next level.

BB seems like an "all in" or "nothing" type of coach. Doesn't seem like something he'd go for. That said, I'm all for it.

And yet he did this exact thing for Junior Seau........

Anyone who doesn’t want Gronk back is a fool. It’s not like we have a wealth of talent at the position where he is not needed or would hinder anyone’s development.

You must not have been around when Howard Cosell to proclaim Russ Francis "the All-World TE". Surely you were around to see Ben Coates!

Gronk is a generational talent, if he wants to come back, I say get him back just in time to qualify for the playoffs. Save the hits on his body.

I doubt he needs training camp (he hasn't taken a snap in the last few pre-seasons anyway). A few weeks of practice and he will be ready to go for the playoffs.

Imagine having to defend a Brady led offense with Josh Gordon (with a full season (almost) of time in the offense), Edelman, Harry, Michel, White, Harris, and now the Gronk!!

BB has proved that you can always take away one receiver, and let the others beat you. But when you have more than one #1 guy, that task becomes impossible.

This. If he wants to come back let him come back around thanksgiving. Give him a couple weeks to get into “game” shape before he is active. Then let him get a couple warm up games, low reps and have him primed and ready to go for the playoff push.

You are correct, I was not around for Russ Francis (at least, was not an active fan), but I was around for Coates. I was mostly referring to the BB/Brady era, but your reminder is appreciated.

My point still stands though. You don't need an all world TE in order to have a new generation of players ready to make their mark.

Ex-Patriots TE insists Rob Gronkowski will return to team

Lets hope he is right... I think certain factors might bring him back such as the team getting decimated at TE,The team having issues in the run game by losing Gronk as an extra body and the team having a less than normal record midway thru the season.

Although we know that he has lost some weight and would have to regain his normal playing weight.
Wiggy is a radio host with little to no inside information. It’s about as useful as any of us saying this.

Say Goodbye to any dreams of Gronk coming back, his big announcement is that he is partnering and using medical marijuana.

Who said they don't want him?

Who said they don't want him?
Haven’t seen many come out and say it (because god forbid anyone commit the mortal sin of being wrong on a message board) but there is a lot of “we’ve moved on” and a general “I’m over him” sentiment from a lot of people.

Conceding to reality and expressing your personal wishes are two distinctly different concepts.

And then we'll start shaking hands with Trees and watch Elephants fly. That's my take on Gronk ever coming back...we all knew with the amount of injuries starting from College that he was going to have a short NFL career... albeit Great.

With Gronk in on CBD oil and such, if he comes back, the league will likely suspend him for 4 games.. Because they are asses..

I would give it a 69% chance.

Got Gronk's answer to Wiggins.
