Andrew Luck Retires from NFL

Unless Colts ask for some of the bonus $$ they paid back, which I believe they are entitled to. Read somewhere its like $12M?

According to Schefter at least, the Colts could have possibly recouped as much as $24M (which is surprisingly high, I thought I read $12M as well last night). But apparently the Colts and Luck have reached some kind of settlement where they won't try to get the money back.

Wouldn't it be great if Brissett lights it up this year and leaves them????

.

Or he lights it up, the colts overpay and then Jacoby returns to the mean. Ending them up in cap hell. Either way is a win win to me. I'd give them one good year for yet another rebuild.

The $24.8 million is $12.8 million of prorated signing bonus and a $12 roster bonus paid this year.

Wow. Too bad and sad, but good for you Andrew for putting your health and the rest of your life first.

People like Brady and even Manning have a pathological drive. People that retire at 29 because they’re mentally tired of football don’t. Even if he didn’t retire do you think a guy that sees a the game as a grind that he dreads is ever going to be the sort of guy that fanatically prepares like Brady?

Walking away from a job at 29 and a millionaire where you spend insane hours working and training is something a rational grounded person does. Driving yourself day in and day out to become an all time great is not something a normal person does.

the big question now, does andrew luck classify as a bust?

The amount of money spent, some gaudy stats, and no playoff success.

Dumb comment if Gronk retiring is a bigger story why are the Patriots still Super Bowl favs where as the Colts have gone from 12/1 to 50/1 to win the Super Bowl and their over/under has gone from 10 to 6.5.

Nobody outside of a few Patriots fans thinks Gronk retiring is a bigger story, everybody knew Gronk was on his last legs, Andrew Luck was 2nd fav to win MVP this season behind Mahomes as soon as 3 weeks ago.

Gronk is a HoF player who if he continued could have been the GOAT at his position Luck wasn't on that career path.

Wow. Jacoby's future net worth zoomed around 10pm EST last night!!!

Luv it - - good for him. By all indications a classy kid.

.
Physically he has it all and works as hard as you can. I’d love to see him break out.

Sitting in ER, head split open abt 3 inches but these shltpost are giving me more of a headache.

Is Luck a bust?

Gronk isn't the GOAT TE?

Can't blame colt fans for booing a 29 yo who had half his body numb after taking hits? Pissing blood? Multiple concussions?

People actually defending the prior GM's drafting?

Some of you should be ashamed of yourselves. Its ****in sports. Not that serious.

Wow, no wonder Parcells seemed to like him so much

I was referring to Russell Wilson in this post. Should be pretty obvious that I wasn't referring to Mahomes, since he was drafted 6 full years after Luck. If you're going to sanctimoniously lecture people on "no longer having the capacity to see something that obvious", you probably shouldn't miss such obvious points in your own right.

You declared Luck the best 'young' QB in the league despite him not being the best QB in his own draft class. That was my point: even if you want to pretend that Mahomes having a far better season than Luck has ever had in his first season as a starter doesn't mean anything, declaring Luck the best 'young' QB in the league also requires you to declare that he's better than his fellow 2012 draft classmate Russell Wilson. Well, either that or declare the cutoff for considering someone a 'young' QB falls somewhere in early-to-mid 1989. And if you think Luck's a better QB than Wilson, then you pretty much have to follow that up with saying Manning is better than Brady, because it's the same dumb and wrong argument in both cases.

Also, I joined Patsfans in 2007 and you've been posting about how I 'used to be better' since 2008. I dunno why you've spent the last decade claiming I used to be a better poster, when it seems pretty evident that you've never really liked what I have to say.
You must have really started out on fire!

I was at that game too.

Were you at Elmos?
Not where this happened. Friday night we were. Can’t remember the name of the place this happened. We were drinking at the bar not there for dinner but I do remember it being nice. Not as upscale as Elmo’s probably.

A guy came over started trash talking my GF. When she hands it back to him he literally tried to spit in her face and luckily mostly missed. As I made my way over it was pretty evident to who
who we were later told was the mayors security what was going down (I’m 6’7”’and was building a quick head of steam) and they stepped in. We were ushered out the back door and the **** was tossed forcefully out the front.

The sort of arrogant stupidity that's wrapped into that post is a big part of why 31 NFL fan bases hate the Patriots fan base.
Look at how many people disagreed. One comment from one person is not why people hate the pats.

You can’t compare a TE to a QB when it comes to impact.....teams will rank a season to get a QB, never happen for a TE

Luck was a starting QB.

Sorry, but the position is the most important on the field by far.

Losing Luck is a far bigger hit to the Colts than Gronk to the Pats.
