Chung cocaine indictment?

A few new pieces of info from Howe:

He wasn’t home, other people were there but left before the security system was triggered, and “A source close to Chung insisted he doesn’t use cocaine.”

Patriots safety Patrick Chung indicted for cocaine...
It'll be hard to convict him if he wasn't home and other people were there before him. He'd better call Ty Law's cousin. NH is close to the Canadian border!

So now after reading more details, there was an alarm at his house, and the officers entered an empty house with probable cause.

Unless the coke was laying out on a living room table, they might have searched his drawers or cabinets for it.

One wonders, in that case, if probable cause even allows police to do something like that.
If this is true, he is definately borrowing Kraft's attorneys and beat this. Either that or he can go full Peyton and claim the yeyo was his wife's.

Blaming the wife is usually my go-to whenever I get popped with a bunch of blow. It always goes over well with the in-laws during the holidays.

NFL suspension won't be until next year. So we probably have to cut him next year. But no effect on the 2019 season

Come on guys we are better than this. Let’s not turn this into Chiefs Planet. Making excuses or blaming the police or hoping a good attorney gets him off.

Cocaine is ILLEGAL and has ruined many people’s lives. Very dangerous drug. Christ it killed Len Bias. If Chung was the one using then he needs to pay the price and hopefully gets some treatment to better his life. I thought Chiefs fans were ridiculous putting their beloved team before a player committing a crime. I do know that beating a child and cocaine possession have different moral issues and penalties. My point is if Chung screwed up then he needs to be penalized by the Courts and Patriots for his crime.

It is about time these prima donnas get the same treatment as all of us when they screw up. Shame on you PATRICK.

Coke is not good. Let’s not equate it with beating on a kid.

Yes, and? I'd argue it's not our business to regulate what citizens consume in private, as that's ultimately a matter of personal privacy.

It is our business to provide them with adequate resources to seek mental and physical healthcare if their consumption of any given drug becomes problematic for themselves or others.
So...do whatever blow you want, nobody can stop you...but if it wrecks your body like it do, the rest of us have to pay.

Thanks, Dreighver!

1. He's on a one year contract.
2. Why would you cut him even if he wasn't? You'd rather be without him for 16 games instead of a couple?

He is on a 3 year contract.

No, if we would be forced to cut him if he had a serious legal issue.

There may be a value to pleading guilty now. Probation, fine and a NFL suspension ..... end of problem (possibly).
I'm not sure you understand the implications of pleading guilty to a felony just to make it convenient for the Pats (teamwise). Nobody but a very poor, ignorant person that doesn't speak English would even consider this.

The alternative is to prosecute and imprison these individuals which also costs the taxpayers money.

Pick your poison.

I prefer to help people via treatment which will ultimately lead to better long-term health and fewer costs over time. Imprisoning someone without treating the ultimate cause of their substance use costs money in-and-of-itself, and presumably costs significantly more money over time as the person continues to abuse drugs and becomes a repeat offender.

I'm a Pats fan in Atlanta who has defended numerous drug cases in both state and federal court. Let's assume 2 facts as true: 1) the police entered the house pursuant to a tripped burglar alarm and 2) there is no direct evidence linking him to the coke (eg his fingerprints are not on the container). If so, even though the search is probably righteous (within limits), this is an extremely weak case. Assuming he's had visitors in his house, there are so many avenues for reasonable doubt I don't even know where to begin. I'll go more in depth when more facts come out, but he doesn't even need a fall guy for this. He'll walk without a scratch on him.
I agree, but if thats the case, why indict? SA trying to make a name for himself?

Yeah, my mistake on the contract. He won't get cut over something that at worst will be a three game suspension and will likely be nothing.

Come on man, most of those people who are arrested for drug use are diverted for SA tx until they show they’re incorrigible. They can even chose tx over incarceration at many points in the journey. They can get better. Vs. the monstrous never ending stream of addicts who won’t/can’t/don’t get tx other than Narcan because they don’t want to and don’t have to. These people need some external control because not much else is stronger than the chase. And with no intervention we get to pay for our inaction by cleaning up preventable s storms or burying dead people and finding homes for their orphans.

My apologies if anyone has referenced this already, but the countdown for the Shank Sbaughnessy hit piece is on. The old CHB has a chubby the size of which belies his advanced age...
