Bummer? Are you serious? Trent Brown was a good, not great,lt for half a season.
Was mediocre over 1st half.
Isaiah Wynn will be 2x the lt Brown ever dreamed of being.
Just watch.
2x better based on absolutely nothing. Gotcha.

Would be a major dissapointment if Wynn wasn't better than Brown.
I expect him to become ProBowl level in a few years and very good right outta the gate this year. Yeah, it's projection but enough people I trust are very high on him.

I'm so high on him, I need rehab.

..higher than Chung?

AMAZING. A completely unsubstantiated report from some guys down in Washington, which was definitively rebutted about 2 minutes later, and yet it is the RUMOR that becomes the story.

The story was either pure click bait, or directly fed to them by the most inept FO in the league in order to set a price point for William's services. The story makes so little sense from the Pats point of view, smart people would see it for what it is.

1. I could see it IF Wynn had sucked in his first live action of the year, BUT the reviews from Wynn's first game were stellar. No one he blocked got even a sniff of Brady.

2. The Pats would only trade a first round pick for someone who would be an impact player immediately and not cost much. Bill shipped out Cooks because he'd cost him just $8MM on the cap to keep him another season, let alone the 8 figure deal he got with the Rams.

Williams is going to cost about $11M this year and more next....and wants a big extension besides. I'm sure Bill would rather give that money to Thuney than for a guy who is just a slip away from a long suspension and hasn't played a full season since 2016.

Clearly this was a message sent from the team to add value to an asset that is currently diminishing day by day

I’d be surprised if the Patriots offered a 1 for Williams and Rappaport is denying that they did. After seeing Wynn play LT, albeit in a small sample size, he’ll be the starter. I get the sense that they’ll look for an inexpensive option as a swing tackle after cuts. I don’t think Dan Skipper is the guy—at least right now.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Pats offered a 1st...but something else of value would have to come back this way. No way it's a first straight up and no way 'Skins wouldn't take that offer.

When they drafted Wynn, the first thought that came to my head was he'll be an All Pro OG and Thuney's replacement in 2020. It appears there's some of that thinking going on with BB.

The thinking is that Wynn will be the left tackle.

They are very unlikely to trade for Trent Williams.

It doesn't look likely now because they reportedly offered a 1st that was refused but if they got him Wynn wasn't playing LT. Now they're moving on with Wynn penciled in to play that spot.

The Patriots are not - and have not been - in the business of trading for Redskins OT Trent Williams. They did not offer a first round pick for him. He's not on their radar.

Besides Cooks, who they flipped to recoup their first round pick, what’s the highest pick they’ve traded for a player? I’m trying to remember. Has Belichick traded a second round pick? Almost every trade they make is giving up a fourth at most. Moss, Talib, Van Noy, Gordon...they don’t trade high picks often.

Edit: I think Welker was traded for a second, but it wasn’t really a trade. It was an RFA deal that got messy with the Dolphins, so they converted it into a trade (adding a 7th.). Also made an RFA offer to E. Sanders that would have been a second round pick.

Notice none of these players were getting paid much at the time.

Dude, it never looked likely because the Patriots never offered anything for him, nevermind a 1st rounder, which is ridiculous.
It's fake news. Never happened. Don't be so gullible. Might wanna make sure you hear it from an actual trusted source, with a track record for reliability and big-time connections.
Like Reiss. Or Shefter. Or Yates.

I have to agree. I think this is a smokescreen by the Redskins to build a potential trade market for Williams. No way they get a first from anyone for a player that everyone knows has no desire to ever play for their organization again. That whole organization is a train wreck. Snyder needs to step aside and then they need to blow the whole thing up and start over from top to bottom.

They didn't offer a 1st for him.
