Edelman & D. Thomas back at practice; Gordon in warmups

I am not saying I would be against Edelman back their in a critical or key situation. I just wouldn't like that to be his exclusive job I am sure many would agree. We Drafted CB Cyruss Jones for that very duty not long ago sadly he didn't work out. Minus the older Edelman we have zero dept at the position.

You really want the best guy doing this job. It’s the same as saying he’s our best wr but let’s not play him too much or he’ll get hurt.

290 to 304 not exactly apples and oranges there in yardage but I expected more from Dorsett last year. He's probably the Fastest WR on our Team but he sure ain't no Brandin Cooks to most quality NFL CB's. Also it seems like BB really likes him as player and person.

Edelman
Gordon
Thomas
Harry
Meyers

Unless Thomas is toast that’s your WR group.

Someday, the Matthew Slater era will indeed come to an end. But when it does, it will have nothing to do with the depth at wide receiver.

I'm fine with the high cap hit for a player who is not only a perennial pro bowler on special teams but the captain of that unit, an emotional and spiritual leader of the team, and a mentor and inspiration for young players to see that ST matters and can take you places.

Plus, take a look at the Ryan Allen highlights in the punter thread. From last year. From late last year. Who was the guy that most often made those "punting" highlights turn into big plays?

Interesting how the make-up of the Patriots WR roster has evolved.
The receiving corps has been Edelman-Amendola-Mitchell-Hogan, with only Hogan at 6-1 greater than six feet.
Edelman and Amendola both 5-10. Welker was 5-9. Deion Branch was 5-9. Brandon Tate was under six feet, and Taylor Price just six feet.
Now look at all the new additions in the 6-2/6-3 range: Gordon, Harry, Thomas, Meyers, Harris, Inman, Meredith. If the rotation includes Gordon, Thomas, Harry, Meyers, as is likely, that's four players in the 6' 3" range.

The Patriots really thrived with an offense focused on the Welker/Edelman/Amendola/Branch prototype of quick feet, quick cuts to get open. Now with Gordon, Harry, and others the team is depending upon the player making a contested catch.

LOL @ the people that thought Thomas was going to spend the 1st 6 weeks of the season on PUP.

I just wish BB would get Brady some freaking weapons. BB the gm killing BB the coach.

Fun factoids:

Braxton Berrios returned 47 punts in college for a 10.4 yard average
Gunner Olszewski returned 69 punts in college for 13.4 yard average

Braxton Berrios preseason PR average: 9.2 yards
Gunner Olszewski preseason PR average: 12.0 yards

(and no, I'm not suggesting that Olszewski will make the roster)

Oh no, you didn't.

Berrios played in the ACC against the likes of Notre Dame, Virginia State, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Clemson, Virginia...

Gunner cut his teeth against Mary, Crookston, Duluth, Upper Iowa, and Minot St.

I don't know which member of your family Dorsett slept with to make you so hostile towards the man, but it's not his fault that Josh Gordon took his spot, and relegated him to just a few snaps per game. If Gordon had taken Harris' spot instead, Dorsett's numbers would have been much more impressive, and Harris wouldn't even have been a blip on the radar.

Dorsett may, or may not, make the team, but the idiocy about him on this board is led by those such as yourself, who don't bother to actually analyze what's going on, and just toss out nonsense as if it's golden truth.
