Isaiah Wynn.....and a rant

I should have included owners as they're probably the worst offenders

Thank God for RKK.

Folks can snark as much as they want, but when you look around the league and see the collection of clowns, you understand exactly how fortunate we are.

Arguably the best owner in sports since he bought the team. I don't understand the shade he gets either.

Most don't deserve Bill, Tom & Bob.

Imagine "disliking" this post.

************ this season needs to start...
It does but you can't get to 10 w/out going through 1, 2, 3, ....
Wynn, Gordon, Meyers etc. Lots of good news rn. Nothing wrong w having some fun.

Now we pause this post for a RANT!

The media (and that includes both national as well as local) has ALWAYS had a very distorted view of the value of WR's.

Think about it. How many times have great WR's led their team to Super Bowls?

Why?

Think of the timeline when the media/fan desire for a wide receiver began, as a panacea for a losing team to rise from the ashes and instantly become immortal greats.

It was the same time that Fantasy Football became immensely popular and mainstream.

Once that happened, thousands of football fans became convinced they could run an NFL team.

Those particular people either won, or came close to winning their work FFL league year after year. Same thing happened on anonymous internet leagues. Some of these leagues had a little bit of money riding. Others had big cash payouts. Inflated egos resulted in thousands of armchair general managers.

Fantasy Football has never been able to consider the value of things like an offensive line, or a defensive end setting the edge. The value of any player that touches the ball - especially a wide receiver - is overstated. It goes way back to the origin of FFL, when those positions were the only ones that had stats that were able to be tracked.

End result is that - as stated above - 'the media has a distorted view of the value of a wide receiver'. The media is simply responding to the viewpoint of their audience: fantasy football participants. Follow the money...

PFK the answer is simple avoid Sportstalk Radio... it has descended into a cesspool of conspiracy driven BS designed to attract viewers, create conspiracy theories rather than to inform the listener...

In 2001 lived in Northern Maine for a couple of years, when I came back to this area for family stuff... could not wait to get in range of WEEI so I could be informed of the what was going on with the Pats.. Ordway, DeOssie and Smerlas sounded smart and informed.

Now my attitude towards sportstalk has turned into a very negative "MEH", find most of the Pats stuff they talk about is just plain old BS.. couple of weeks ago think it was Bertram who was ranting and raving about the LT sitz. He was asking the viewers if they had confidence in a LT who never played a down in the NFL.. he was trying to gin up some controversy, not sure it worked. What really irked me was the silence of Zolak, who knows more about the Pats than any other current sportstalker.. Zolak's silence only confirms that what they are trying to do is create controversy.

Rely less and less on sportstalk radio than I ever have..

Wynn is going to be a good one. Sucks that he missed last season but I have no doubt he will be at least an above average tackle with Scar coaching.

Volin = jerkoff

If Volin was a landscaper he'd be a jerkoff

If Volin was a bar owner the name of the joint would be "Jerkoff's"..

If Volin owned a foreign car dealership it'd be called "Jagoff's"

If Volin was a urologist he'd be a major jerkoff AND a d!ck
He’s a d*ck & a moron?? (I know it’s not spelled the same)

Volin > Curran

Volin does not > anyone at all, whatsoever. He is a bottom feeder, period. The only thing he > is algae.

obviously but he is in steep decline (Curran)

He has been bizarre lately, that's for sure, but he still offers original insight.

Ben Vomit offers you just vomit, e.g., regurgitated stuff. When he's not throwing shade, he just steals from other writers.

I need to see Meyers produce in real games before I’m sold. We’ve seen this too much times (or Tyms?) before in the preseason.

I just saw this. You’re too kind, frankly. Most of this Board would do a better job covering the Pats than Mr. Violin.

A heavy weight has been lifted off my shoulders learning this morning Isaiah Wynn will be a first ballot Hall of Famer. Phew...Thank Goodness. :D

Many of us are just “regular people” who don’t “watch / follow for a living”. Yet, almost all of us laugh as the people PAID to follow the team moan about the lack of skill at this or that position.

Why would any team want to lock in lotsa $ at WR or RB ? Makes no sense. I’m more than happy with the cap allocated to the positions BB finds cost effective. It’s one of the key ingredients to the SBs.
It's coincidental that you say that, because on a somewhat related note, I was thinking this morning how odd it is when media people harshly criticize those on the bottom of any pro team's roster. I do it sometimes, too. But, when you think of how ridiculously good those guys have to be simply to get there, it seems dumb. Almost invariably they were all-state or all-county in high school and then good enough to get a free college education worth hundreds of thousands of dollars in many cases. When I hear a media member describe a pro athlete as "a piece of garbage" due to her/his ability it just seems a little (no, a lot) excessive to me. Rant over.
