JOSH GORDON REINSTATED

Why do you keep talking about someone who hasn't even practiced with the team yet.. You want to talk about mismatches, talk about Edelman, Gordon, Harry, White, and Michel.

The beautiful thing is that we can now debate the WR pecking order as a position of strength, whereas just a few months ago it was a train wreck.
I have my locks for the initial 53 as Edelman, Gordon, Harry and Meyers. That leaves 1-2 slots for Dorsett, Harris, Berrios and potentially Thomas, all of whom have solid arguments for deserving a roster spot.

If Matt LaCosse heals up and Isaiah Wynn holds up, I'll be hard pressed to point to ANY spot on this roster, offense or defense, that really worries me.

Before thanksgiving, they averaged 41 PPG. After thanksgiving, it dropped to 29 PPG. Not sure what happened, but the offense took a hit after the Eagles game.

Defenses took out Moss. That was the difference. They forced the NEP into dink n dunk....and still averaged 29ppg lol.

First 10 games- 66catches 1062yds 16ypc 16Tds, 71% catch
Last 9 games 39 catches 535yds 13ypc 8tds 47% catch

I really think losing Sammy Morris week 6 was the single most biggest injury. He had a nice physical style to him. They kinda got that from Maroney in the playoffs but he didn't have the physical/mental toughness like Morris

In any event, I am starting to like the 2019 offense better than 2017. I don't think it will average 41 PPG, but I do think Brady has more weapons at his disposal this time around both at WR and at RB. Plus I think the offense will be more physical. We'll see though - hopefully I'm right.
Agree.

No question 2019 has the chance to be a much more well rounded offense. Wish we had a TE but providing we have Josh for 16 games and overall health this O should put up 27-32ppg consistently.

Oh I 100% understand what you're saying. I understand that excellent value is what this team is predicated on and what Gordon brought to the team for the money he made was excellent value. It is just looking at it from a strict production standpoint that I'm hesitant to give him that much praise.
Exactly. Value for the dollar, challenges that he faced, whether he will be better this year because he is in the system longer are all valid discussions they just aren’t a part of judging his actual play on the field.
I allowed the conversation to meander away from the point because I acknowledged the points made that were designed specifically to blur the actual quality of his actual position in the field.

TE is weak but it doesn’t bother me either because I feel it will be deemphasized and the weakness won’t have much of an impact. (As long as they block when called upon)

This reminds me I had a particularly "easy to annoy" stretch and had to ignore Sammy after another cat pun but I think I'm ready for him/her again now
You ignored me one time. My day was ruined. I found myself in a corner of my house at the end of the day, in tears, with a handle of Jack Daniels and a revolver with one bullet.

Best blocking receiver my untrained eye has seen in a Patriots uniform. That is going to help with our untested LT and blocking TE.

What Josh Gordon's possible return means for Tom Brady and the New England Patriots | NFL News, Rankings and Statistics | PFF
Play action numbers are significant, good news he’s back. Don’t know how it generates 30 pages since yesterday but good news.

Season tickets in the family since Schaefer Stadium opened. Randy Moss cut........too funny :D
At cut downs there were literally people predicting moss was going to be cut because he couldn’t get on the field. On this very board.

30 pages in a day might seem like a lot but take away a hundred AJ posts and their rebuttals and we are probably down to 10. Heck, looking at it in that light we've been downright subdued

Anybody: "That was a delicious strawberry"

Andy Johnson: "Why are you claiming that Strawberry Fields is the greatest Beatles song of all time!!!?????"

.
That is literally the exact opposite of what occurred in this thread.

The ignore function is the tool of the weak. An internet safe space. But, by all means, if you DO choose to use it, please post a big announcement letting the poster you’re using it for know that he’s on ignore.

Yeah letting the guy know you have him on ignore works perfectly. They won't even bother responding to your posts. I have Deus and 30 or so people on ignore.

Well that certainly gives it value.
Look at what's being debated right now

Of course, but it was still a topic of discussion, just as moving on from Brady after 2008 and rolling with Matt Cassell was a thing. It's insane, but we can't revise history and say it never happened.

Does it really?
Cause from where I sit it only makes the person doing it look weak and foolish. Particularly when they make the same point the 30 people they have on ignore have already made. Although occasionally that's hysterical, so maybe that part is close to being a wash.

Plus on defense I think the Roosevelt Colvin injury was huge. If memory serves me right, we lost both Morris and Colvin in the Dallas game...his pass rushing would have been huge in SB 42.

I also think because the offense took a bit of a nosedive in late November/December, it put more of an onus on our defense, which looking back at it was overrated. I don't think the 2007 defense matched the 2001-2004 defenses or even the defenses of 2014-2018. A lot of the D was getting old - players like Bruschi, Harrison, Vrabel, etc. Teams like Ravens, Eagles, and Giants (regular season) were all able to up a good number of points.

You are dangerously close to implying not every argument has merit, perish the thought ;)

Hard to not be excited about this move. Provides speed, size and depth.

My Odds:
10% - we get 2013 Gordon when he averaged 117 yards a start and was a transcendent player (not the same stats but quality of play - opens things up for others) 80/1300/14
40% - slightly better version than last year - better shape and connection with Brady. 70/1100/8
25% chance - similar to last year. Up and down at times - some complaints heard about Brady going to him too much. Some huge games but several where he seems to disappear 60/950/6
10% - worse than last year. Struggles to stay healthy and becomes an after thought. 45/550/3
15% - plays well but ends up suspended by mid-season

Am expecting the slightly better version and am hopeful he has finally turned his life around.

A healthy and insynch Gordon, Edelman and Thomas could rival the 2007 receiving core and with a better running game this offense could be deadly.

The D was serviceable enough to do the job but I agree it certainly was not as stout as the 01, 03, 04 and 06 teams. Lacked speed.
