I place his chances of making the 53 as good as any other TE's chances right now.
This is the key point probably right here. Outside of Watson, none of the other TE's have proven anything in this league, and Watson is gone for 4 weeks. Q-Bert has as good a chance as anyone until proven otherwise.
There's a positive history of hard work and some talent....the cost is nothing...if the season started this coming weekend it would be Izzo and that's it.Hey, I like the trade!
It's a little-risk, big-reward gamble on a still-young TE prospect straight outta Central Casting, who is in obvious need of different eyes & voices if his pass-catching potential is ever to be realized. He's also a willing blocker, so that ability should get him looks on STs & 1st down/short-yardage situations.

That is one of the darkest "Weaknesses" descriptions I've read."Tape study is absolutely maddening on Saubert as it roller coasters from eye-popping potential to lapses in concentration and effort as a blocker. Saubert's speed and athleticism will get him open and he should test well at the combine. Teams will have to balance the flashes with the drops and decide how early they want to pull the trigger on a tight end with starter's potential but a low floor." — Lance Zierlein, NFL.com
Cousins, If you look at Rotoworld, They have Saubert as #85 for the Pats. Now that might be because of his Falcons #. But he was known so far as a blocker.I have him immediately replacing Izzo on my 53 (although most I see posted here don't even include Izzo in the first place).

You might have your coresponding move there .....unless LaCoss is la-finished and off to IRL world?
Don't think Isso looked great..... But what do I know. Perhaps Beck is the equal to Rizzo?

Five receptions in two years, married with an unwillingness to block, is not very heartening.
Or they just wanted to add one more JAG to the pile. A conditional seventh isn't exactly a glowing endorsement.Or LaCosse is more hurt than we hoped.
Of course, you are right, but aren’t there many JAGs out there looking for an audition “for free” ? To play devil’s advocate : we mostly all figured KVN was a JAG (despite when he was drafted) when he came over for not much more...Or they just wanted to add one more JAG to the pile.
