Yep, that's how they got Trey Flowers and Deatrich Wise! And Zach Moore, Michael Buchanan, Markell Carter and Justin Rogers. ;)

It always amazes me to look at past drafts of any team and see how few picks end up successful. As fans, we expect a huge hit rate and get upset when a "high pick" like Rivers doesn't pan out. (Rivers was drafted at the bottom of the 3rd round, lest we forget--the 15th DE selected.)

If from this draft, hypothetically, N'Keal Harry becomes a starter, Chase Winovich a valuable rotational player, Jarrett Stidham a reliable #1 backup and Jake Bailey a long-term punter, and the other 6 players all wash out, that's actually a really good draft.

Agree, but neither Harris or Froholdt is likely to wash out, nor Cajuste. Seriously, this looks like a great draft.

I just hope N’Keal Harry doesn’t consistently turn into N’Keal “Hammy”

I rewatched the game today...looking at him specifically. Squares up against his man, keeps his feet moving, drives the DL back and not once did he look out of place...he makes it look easy.

This guy is legit. Him starting at LG and Thuney moving to LT this year...they won't miss a beat. Wynn will be ready to start LT in 2020.

You don't know that, especially about Cajuste (aka The possibly next Tony Garcia / Tre Jackson / Bryan Stork).

Cajuste needs to make it back soon. We can't even afford Skipper as a backup OT

Next year if Froholdt starts at LG and we let Thuney sign elsewhere, we save the cap space + get the comp pick. I am also guessing BB tries to spend the cap in all areas so he will not want to pay all of the Offensive linemen free agent contracts. So he might be training Froholdt as a backup this year and a starter next year.

What We Learned From Patriots’ New Defensive Alignment In Preseason Opener

"The Patriots used a 3-4 (three defensive linemen and four linebackers) through much of the early part of their dynasty in the mid-to-late 2000s before switching to a primary four-man front in 2011. Against the Lions, the Patriots didn’t use a four-man front a single time. Including all plays — penalties and all — the Patriots’ defense lined up 42 times Thursday night. They were in a 3-4 for 23 of those plays, a 2-4 for 10 plays, a 1-5 for eight plays and a 3-3 for one play".

Still unsure that Bennett makes the transition from life-long 4-3 DE to 3-4 DE (& 2-4 DT?) as seamlessly as the writer claims he will.

What makes you think a rookie who missed camp would look much better than Skipper, who hasn't even looked bad?

He's always slid inside to play DT throughout his career.

In obvious passing situations, mostly. You don’t want him lining up there that often against the run. That said, I don’t think it will be as hard to transition as the good captain thinks it will be.
