Tomase has a transcript from the HBO show discussing the Pats and Spygate.

LINK

Tell me this isn't going to find it's way to the team before the game Sunday:

Peter King: “No question Bob. You know, 5 and 0 New England against 5 and 0 Dallas. The league, the Patriots, everybody, they just want this spygate thing to go away. But Wade Phillips this week told me something that I think a lot of coaches around the league and a lot of people around the league are still thinking and that is, ‘Hey, New England was caught cheating and it is a black mark on their success.’ There is no doubt in my mind that it is and more and more people around the league are starting to say, ‘Why did this thing just go away? Why didn’t it get more traction?’”

Re: Wade Phillips provides Pats with extra motivation.

Hahaha what an idiot. Prepare to get smashed Wade.

Re: Wade Phillips provides Pats with extra motivation.

Peter King just won't shut up about this. I can't believe it, it's almost like he's writing about something more important than football.

Re: Wade Phillips provides Pats with extra motivation.

or maybe he wants us to win the SB and steadily bashes us up (ergo, more bulletin material) once he suspects that we are getting complacent. hmmmmm..that is not too far fetched, is it?? :)

Re: Wade Phillips provides Pats with extra motivation.

Who else thinks that Wade Phillips probably hasn't spent two seconds thinking about the whole spygate incident in weeks and only commented on it because Peter King won't let it die and asked a direct question on it? Who else thinks that any quote either King or Collinsworth have been getting recently on the who Spygate thing are not unsolicited comments, but only comments given because they are too interested in keeping this story alive by proding whoever in the league for more comments?

It is funny that the only people who seem to be getting any new feedback around the league about Spygate are the guys who refuse to let it die. If King and Collinsworth weren't leading a two man crusade to keep this thing going, only fringe writers like Easterbrook would still be talking about this.

By the way, where were King and Collinsworth when the Broncos got caught cheating giving Elway an illegal contract so they didn't have to cut a key player to get Elway under contract? Both were analyst for the league at that time, but I never saw either so vigilalent to keep that story alive.

Here's another comment:

-Wade Phillips has a ton of respect for New England coach Bill Belichick and knows him well. But he took a slight dig at the Spygate filming controversy during his news conference Wednesday when asked how close they were.
"We don't go fishing together," Phillips said. "I didn't say we don't go to the movies together."-

living here in dallas, and hearing the press confrence live....it was not a crack at spygate.....its getting overblown.

Re: Wade Phillips provides Pats with extra motivation.

This spygate thing going to make the Pats win a Superbowl...and the Patriots will become the most hated team in America....

What information did you get by hearing it live that I didn't get by reading the quote? And what do you think he was alluding to?

We already are. The winningest team is always hated outside their home market, hate's the biggest compliment you can get in this business.

Re: Wade Phillips provides Pats with extra motivation.

How on EARTH anyone can say the story "didn't gain traction" is beyond me.

The only team that was very successful for years and was loved well outside thier home market were the Steelers of the 70s IMO

Wouldn't surprise me. I'm as competitive as anyone I know but this whole controversy makes me want to go and kill someone. Sure the Patriots were motivated heading into the season but I bet they have the extra F*CK YOU in their gut that we all have.

How on EARTH anyone can say the story "didn't gain traction" is beyond me.
LOL, not only did it gain traction but it was blown totally out of proportion.

Re: Wade Phillips provides Pats with extra motivation.

I've been saying that since before the Chargers game.

Feed the Pats tacklin fuel. I can't believe anyone on our schedule is still talking about it ? You would think they'd learn by now. Oh that's right, we're winning like we are because of our schedule. The only team to score 17 points was the Browns, how can you hate them, Crennel and Willie and they didn't say anything about SpyGate. Even TO knows to keep his mouth shut, he even knows he's not good at that either, so he made a sign.

Re: Wade Phillips provides Pats with extra motivation.

If anything, this incident clearly provided me to no longer read the sh!te columns/websites from: Peter puffer King, and Profootballtalk dot com... among other trash writers.

Re: Wade Phillips provides Pats with extra motivation.

felger made an observation that wade phillips in dallas is like pete carroll in new england in 1996. Everyone is happy that tuna is gone and having fun- wait for some adversity to happen. Now i didnt know about this team or this game in 1996 ,but anyone else see any similarities ??

I agree on this. Phillips is an ass but he's got other things to worry about in any given week where the Patriots are not the opponent. This is Peter King being Peter King.

The Patriots don't need any more motivation when it comes to Wade Phillips after the guy acted like a complete maniac when the Chargers beat the Pats at home in '05. You'll never see a Chargers fan mention it when talking about how "classy" they are but I guess it's easy to understand why you'd want to forget a season where you miss the playoffs because you couldn't beat the Dolphins.

Re: Wade Phillips provides Pats with extra motivation.

Peter King is a complete tool...evertime i see or hear him he's trying to bring up spygate again, he just can't let it go. Good thing he's objective

I am not sure what Wade meant by this; BUT it COULD be interpreted to mean that BB either shared the films with him, or he did the same thing on his own.......... so where is the NFL official investigation lead by Inspector Clouseau (aka Peter King) there??? hmmm
