Brady puts Brookline home on the market

I think hes downsizing.

Hes looking at a 3 bedroom split in Mendon.

Patriots think Brady is bluffing about leaving or retiring. He’s caved in the past but he’s certainly making it look like he won’t this time.

I blame Marky Mark and his talking teddy bear breaking in that one night.

Regards,
Chris

What does it mean when any celebrity sells their home?

Obviously, they're in financial trouble.

Hey, it's more plausible than Brady going to play for the jest.

To much is going to be made about this. I'm in the "who cares" faction. Tom Brady is clearly in the year to year part of his career. All I care about is what the Pats are going to be for the 2019 season. Why should I agonize about something that far into the future?

BTW- Why would Brady sign both to sign ANY deal if it was his intention to leave after this season. I have no idea why he chose THIS time to put his home on the market, but it is what it is.

BTW-2 There is no reasonable scenario that any move to the NYC area would entail a move to to the Jets or Giants. Both teams currently have their QB's of the future firmly in place, and if Brady either already owns or plans to buy a smaller place to stay while he's still in Boston we won't know about it.

BTW-3 This was simply a deal that gave Brady a modest (relatively) raise, gave the Pat a modest cap bump, and recognized the reality of the FACT that Brady, at 42 years old, is in the "year to year" stage of his career. There is really no drama here at all.

But regardless this will now be the ultimate narrative for at LEAST the rest of TC.
Put me in the who cares pile as well. I mean, it's a real estate transaction. Oh, news flash... the dude is 42. He's not playing forever, no matter what kind of snake oil crap he's peddling at TB12.

The Franchise tag is irrelevant in Brady's case. Both sides know that the Pats would never utilize the franchise tag.

$35+MM would NEVER fit within the Pats current cap situation. Either it wouldn't fit, or take up so much room they'd be hamstrung to do much else to improve the team. In any event Brady was going to be a FA after this season.
It has to be somewhat relevant if it was specifically forbidden by this deal.

If his financial Guerrero is telling him that we're heading towards a big recession - as a lot of people seem to be saying - then better sell now than in 2-3 years when he ends his career and wants out of New England's armpit and the Trumpcession kicks in.

I put in a low ball offer of 1.1M. Wish me luck.

Maybe hes movin on up

Relax everyone. He's probably just getting a divorce after a soul-crushing extra-marital affair, both physical and emotional.

Or, perhaps he is recommitting to his family as he nears sees the finish line in the distance for that passionate affair that for so long has consumed him. He is shown here caressing her lovingly, not quite yet ready to say goodbye....

93% chance he plays here next year

Maybe he's buying a place in Montana to hang with Drew.

How many houses do they have? I mean, they have to live somewhere...where do his kids go to school?

EDIT: Nevermind. I was behind on the news that the "new contract" apparently isn't good news after all, so I see why it's an issue.

Brady also recently signed with the William Morris Endeavor talent agency in NYC, an agency that represents many athletes who moved into broadcasting
"...And now to the 10th hole, with Peter Kostis and Tom Brady."

"Thank you Jim. It's been a rough day here as too many shots have gotten away, particularly for the younger players perhaps not used to these greens, right Tom?"

"Well that's true; It's tough enough to make par, but it sure seems like Gisele's bikini wax was used on this green."

"-Oh my God, I'm glad this isn't Augusta!"

"This is Augusta, Peter. What? What'd I say?"

"Nothing, nevermind. I'm going to go dunk my head in the drink."

"Well then I'm going to work on my tan in the south bunker. I knew I was right to bring my Armani's."

"I'm so sorry about this, Jim. Why don't you take over now. Please."

CBS Executive Board Room, four hours later:

"All right. First: What the hell was Chandler Jones doing in Georgia, anyway? And why the hell was Brady hanging out with him on a Sunday morning, before the final round of our biggest tournament of the year? And what the hell is 'synthetic weed'? Didn't this Jones guy learn anything? Jesus, it's like they want Tom kicked out of broadcasting so he can go back to playing for the Patriots!!"

"...You may be onto something there, sir..."

Brady IS going to be a free agent after this season, and he will be one that cannot be threatened by a franchise or transition tag.

. In any event Brady was going to be a FA after this season.

If Brady was happy going year to year then why make sure the franchise tag was eliminated as a possibility next year? If he was fine going year to year after this season why knock all that money off the table?
I believe the Franchise tag part is a side effect of spreading dollars out over 3 years. It's not that there is no franchise tag it's that he's not a free agent he has a 3 year deal. I don't think you can void the years after the season but before franchise tag window. So to write the contract this way so that both TB gets a raise and the team can save cap $ they had to eliminate this useless option. The media just latches onto this because franchise tag is a buzz word.

That would have been merely and implied threat at BEST if it had been left in contract. Can you create any scenario where the Pats would take on a cap charge of over $35MM for a 43 year old QB. It would be a cap killer of immense proportions. In or out, it was never going to happen.

TB has helped the team win 6 Superbowls, has given us many many memories, and will forever be the GOAT.

We have him as our QB this season guaranteed let's enjoy the ride because this career and Patriots era will never be duplicated ever again. This is silly media drama. If he leaves the Patriots after this year I will forever support him either way
