I’ve been a lifelong Patriots fan because I was raised in NH, loved football, and begged my dad to take me to as many games as possible. (1 per year in the 300-level aluminum benches is pretty much what I got, which I was happy with).

But if you think I about it, it’s pretty arbitrary that the NE region is where I was raised and I’ve told my girlfriend many a time that if I wasn’t a Patriots fan, I’d be insanely jealous of them and hate ‘em.

It’s an embarrassment of riches which I consider myself very lucky to enjoy in my home region.

I don't hate the Jete, mostly I appreciate the comic relief, much like @maust1013 said. There's fan bases I don't like, players and coaches I love to hate. The Manning Bros., whichever Harbaugh coaches the Ravens, Jerry Jones.

Maybe the Stillers. I dunno.

Not enough love - well, I mean hate - for the Raiders in this thread. I was listening to JT The Brick on XM today and was reminded why I hate Raiders fans so much.

I hate the Raiduhs so much that I put a 25 year curse on them after the Snow Bowl. I picked 25 years because that was how long we had to wait for a SB after the theft in 1976. They might have some success after the 2026 season.

The best part of the curse is that it took a little while to really take hold so the Raiders ended up in the SB the next year, but they got crushed badly, just as they did to the Vikings in the SB in 1976.

For a team with such a rough and tough image they and some of their fans sure do cry a lot.

One of my sons played 3 sports in HS but his best friend played none. One day my son's friend walked in wearing a tee shirt that read "the sports team from my area is superior to the sports team from your area." I couldn't stop laughing after I read it.

I honestly don’t hate any other teams, just fans that hate on us and throw shade.

Last time i truly hated a football team was probably the early 90s cowboys, i can only now admit that was mostly out of respect.

I sort of feel the same way but I have a lingering animosity toward the NFC. It goes back to when they wouldn't recognize the Pats and the AFL.

I also don't have the same hatred for Goodell as many fans. He's just a figurehead and is doing the bidding of the owners. There's no way that a group of 32 billionaires are going to leave a numb skull like him in charge.

1. IND
2. PIT
3. DEN
4. BAL
5. NYG

Of this list
Baltimore - has, in past history, given us trouble and stopped us in the post season. But, they certainly aren't our better and the rivalry is probably more them to us than us to them. my hatred, if that's how we quantify it, is more for their coach/office than the players.

Each of these have given us trouble in the regular season and the Jets beat us one year in the post season. They're division rivals
  • Miami - hopeless until proven otherwise
  • New York Jets - hurt themselves for a few years by sacrificing everything for a couple good ones. These guys are just great fun to mock. The problem with the Jets is the whole Parcells/Curtis Martin thing. BBs statement on the napkin was the payback :)

These, I classify as the following, "Does the hammer consider the nail a rival?"
  • Buffalo
  • Indianapolis
  • Pittsburgh

Honestly I enjoy the suffering of the Ravens more than anything. And they won just enough that there was an edge to it... for a bit, anyway.

As an aside, Super Bowl 49 was the only time when I just loved hating the other team in the big game. I mean, nobody cares about the Falcons or the LA Rams, and LA barely even has football fans in general. But the trash-talking Legion of Boom Seahawks, with their "12th Man" catchphrase plagiarized from Texas A&M and Pete Carroll as head coach? Oh, yeah.

IMO: The Pats have no rival and already have the greatest dynasty in NFL history. Brady has no equal or anyone even close. Belichick has no equal or anyone even close. This dynasty isn't done yet nor going away anytime soon. :)

Oh yeah. I strongly dislike anyone named Manning or Goodell.

1. Colts
2. All the others except Denver ( I used to live there in the 70's, early 80's, good town, good team)

Interesting topics because there are subtle shades to be considered. There are rivals....and then there are HATED rivals. The distinction is an important one.

Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Indy are at the top of any HATED rivals list because of the despicable nature of their franchises, coaches, GM's etc. The Jets WERE in this list, mostly because of their NYC geography, fans and their ***hole HC who sabotaged a superbowl run, stole players and coaches, yet somehow still gets the local media to keep proposing a Pats HOF berth for him, but given their complete and utter pathetic-ness since 2010 has dropped them to a weak #4 on that list

Teams like SD, Denver and KC are certainly RIVALS, but I'm not sure I can consider them HATED rivals as yet. THOUGH any team with Tyreek Hill on it would make it a fast riser on the "hated" list for me.

BUT as someone so wisely mentioned, without QUESTION, my biggest hatred goes to the team that resides at 354 Park Ave, NYC, and no one else is even close.

No matter what, I root against the Jets. They're my least favorite team in sports, somehow above Duke and the Yankees, Lakers, and Canadiens. My hatred for the Jets runs deep, so deep. So deep put her ass to sleep.

Steelers are only real rival now

I love watching the Steelers and Ravens lose.

Both fan bases are annoying as hell.

Silly Zoo.... incompetence isn’t a hatred shield. Almost everyone I hate is inferior to me.

Yep. But you know what? As much as we hate some of these teams, I think the hate other fan bases have for the Pats over the last 20 years is a lot greater. How many dreams have they shattered?

I hate a lot of guys like LeBron and teams like the Yankees, but it’s the type hate of where there’s tons of respect and admiration. I don’t know how anyone can respect in any way teams that can’t win on the field so cry about getting cheated and play some pathetic PR game like the Colts. I have never ONCE heard a notable Patriots player or coach blame a loss on anything other than they didn’t play/coach well enough. I just HATE excuses in professional sports. Blaming the refs, changing the rules, pointing fingers that some other team cheated...I am certain I wouldn’t even be able to root for a Boston team if they acted like that.
