Trent Williams interest?

Yup, no more rebuild excuses. May not be consistent enough yet to win 12 n challenge NE for the division, but should be in the mix come December.

*Edit: Wrong thread, thought I was in the Jets suck thread.

In the end, every thread is a "Jets suck" thread.

I think you'll be surprised. I'll say 9-11 wins.

Offense is looking pretty darn good.

The Jets aren't winning 10+ games. Don't overshoot, or your season will be a disappointment, even if it's not terrible.

Yeah, Trent Williams isn’t going back to Washington...

He would be a great Patriot for Brady's remaining years if we traded for Williams and locked up Thuney that would be super successful.
Have to think Jonathan Jones and or Dorsett would be at the center of any trade talks.

Can we add a "hysterical" emoji to the reply options? "Funny" isn't strong enough for this post.

There is 0% chance they trade Jones.

I think a Thuney extension is more likely than Williams. We just flat out cannot afford Williams right now. He wants a big money extension. We have 13 milllion. A lot of that will cover this seasons buffer money. We may have 4-5 million to spend now. That plus Thuney 2 million he is on the books now can get him extended. No way on Williams.

Pats told teams wanting to trade for Thuney he is a core player. Better to extend him now than wait for FA.

His cap hit is a bit high if he ends up low on the depth chart. If they think they have 4-5 good guys they may be okay trading him. Core special teamer though so don’t think they’d want to.

Redskins are so delusional telling the media they “doubt Williams gets traded”.

Do we know that for sure? I don’t remember hearing that specific phrasing, but I haven’t been paying super close attention either.

All I heard was that an inside source claimed that they were negotiating with him. To me, all that really means is that they’re trying to see where he stands, so they have a better idea of what’s going on heading into his last year. If his demands aren’t anywhere close to the team’s perceived value, he could be a candidate for a trade, and/or it could help them to shape their 53 man roster, too. A guy like Ferentz (just an example) could be kept if they know that Thuney is likely to leave in the offseason.

? He's their defacto starting slot corner.

The Brady extension made this more likely however we need some more savings to make it happen. Also have to account for another 2 million if Gordon comes back.

I am not sure how dependable this source is. This is where I got my quote.

Not only is it training camp time, it's also contract extension time.

For Joe Thuney, the Patriots' star offensive lineman entering the final year of his rookie deal, talks are reportedly "ongoing" to keep him in Foxboro, per Fansided's Matt Verderame. According to Verderame, teams have inquired New England about possibly trading for Thuney, but the Patriots front office have turned them away and called the guard a "core piece."

What about trading Cannon and a draft pick for Williams?

Is it possible?

What about peoples thoughts on sliding Thuney to RT while Wynn gets back to playing, then moving to Wynn to RT, and Thuney back to guard, while having Williams man down the LT position for the next two years, drafting a successor next year.

I’m guessing that if Williams were traded for Cannon, the easiest and most logical place to put him would be in Cannon’s old spot at RT.

If he’s a candidate now for LT, then there’s not much reason to think that he couldn’t play RT after the trade. Just my opinion.

Edit: just to clarify, we’re talking about Wynn.

A line consisting of Wynn, Mason, Andrew’s, Thuney, and Williams, all coached by Scar could surely be something special.
