Replaced Jakobi Meyers, Dan Skipper & Brandon the King of STs Penalties from the WWBD version with Mister Anderson, Christian Sam & ObiWon. Wouldn't be surprised to see Bill start the season with only 7 OLmen, then sign a vet after week 1.

You are dumping Dan Skipper? Who will protect the rim?

....Wait a minute, wrong thread and wrong sport...

I would probably pick the same LB's myself .:)

Football can be boiled down to 3 main roles: ball handler, wing, and big.

I think this is the first time I have seen Hoyer cut , an interesting move....I have also suggested moving on from burkehead but he is still a favourite of some , a good mix of youth , experience and I would hope keeps the cap in check but I don't know enough about this element.

Yeah...he's very valuable as a scout team QB. I'm starting to have a hunch that Stidham is going to be more valuable then Hoyer before the season starts. I needed to find room for Skipper. However....i've changed my mind about Berrios and think he wont make the 53 now. So I am adding Hoyer back LOL.

Some mixed comments around regarding Skipper so far , some one with that size could be an asset ala Trent Brown, but does he have the mobility.....looks like they are giving him a decent amount of chances. Maybe he will get a decent turn at joint practices to see if Scar can do his magic.

It will be interesting to see how the final 53 compares

I think Stidham would have to show a lot in his first training camp to make Hoyer expendable. There aren’t really many vets in the league that know this offense, so that alone makes him valuable.

I share Zuma’s opinion that Berrios doesn’t make the team (like him, I’ve changed my mind), but I don’t see many scenarios where Hoyer is cut. He would at least be able to run our offense for 4-6 games if it came down to it. I think that much like we saw with Jacoby Brissett, the offense would be quite limited with a rookie like Stidham in real game action.

It was mentioned by I think Doug Kyed that he believes Stidham is further along then Jimmy G, Jacoby B. and others we have drafted...at this point in training camp. Maybe that's not saying much...maybe it is...maybe this idea will gain traction in the next few weeks...we shall see.

Time for my first in a while (maybe all year? I forgot):

QB (3): 12 Brady, 2 Hoyer, __ Stidham
RB (6): 26 Michel, 28 White, 34 Burkhead, __ Harris, 38 Bolden, 46 Develin
WR (5): 13 Dorsett, 82 Harris, __ Meyers, __ Harry, 14 Berrios
TE (3): 83 LaCosse, 81 Kendricks, 80 Anderson
OL (8): 76 Wynn, 62 Thuney, 60 Andrews, 69 Mason, 61 Cannon, 75 Karras, 72 Skipper, __ Froholdt
DL (5): 77 Bennett, 93 Guy, 98 Pennel, 70 Butler, 71 Shelton
EDGE (4): 91 Wise, 55 Simon, 95 Rivers, __ Winovich
LB (5): __ Collins, 51 Bentley, 52 Roberts, 53 Van Noy, 54 Hightower
CB (5): 24 Gilmore, 30 McCourty, 31 Jones, 27 Jackson, __ Williams
S (4): 32 McCourty, 23 Chung, 21 Harmon, 25 Brooks
ST (5): 3 Gostkowski, __ Bailey, 49 Cardona, 18 Slater, 36 King
PUP/NFI/Susp (8): __ Cajuste, __ Meredith, __ Webster, 10 Gordon, 11 Edelman, 43 Ebner, 84 Watson, 88 Thomas

  • Hoyer might just lose his spot.
  • WR and TE are a mess right now. Hopefully Edelman and/or Thomas can join the active roster before the regular season. I don't feel particularly good about giving 53 man roster spots to Berrios, Kendricks, or Anderson but nobody better has come up.
  • Cautiously optimistic that Scar will make either Wynn or Skipper a quality LT, but tackle depth will be a problem no matter what unless we acquire someone.
  • Parry might end up taking Shelton's spot. What has Cowart been up to this summer?
  • Seems like Rivers is making a good case for the #4 edge spot (I consider Bennett a pure DL because of his tendency to play sub DT).
  • I wouldn't consider it the end of the world if any combination of our 5 LBs listed here were the starters, even Roberts. It is mildly disappointing not to be hearing much about Bentley this year but hopefully it's just because of Collins being that good.
  • Will Jackson or even Jones take JMac's #2 CB spot? Perhaps...
  • I feel better about Brooks as a backup S than Obi so no need to keep the extra player.
  • Ryan Allen is done here.
  • As always, I played it conservatively with the PUP/NFI/Susp players, assuming that they won't come off their respective lists until proven otherwise.
  • The toughest cut was Crossen. Dawson and Cowart were borderline but I don't think they've done anything to warrant a roster spot. Every time someone mentions how "unprecedented" it would be to cut Dawson year 2, I lose half of my remaining brain cells.

Regarding Crossen I feel your pain. I suspect he will be the latest in a fairly long line of young last minute Patriot cb cuts that will be signing a $12M/yr contract with another team in a few years :(

Yep. He's got Justin Coleman written all over him.

I agree with almost everything, including the analysis. See below for some thoughts.

DEFENSE
1) I have no issues other than Crossen may make the team as the 10th DB. He would be the 24th defensive player (plus King).

2) Alternatively, I could see Cowart taking the 24th defensive spot as a developmental player, with no expectations for 2019.

RECEIVERS/TIGHT ENDS
3) I feel fine about Kendricks as a backup and #3 TE.

4) Anderson may get to be on the 53 for 4 weeks, but I'd be fine with having only 2 TE's until Watson comes back.

#5) Personally, I see no reason for either Myers or Berrios to be on the 53. Myers has Practice Squad written all over him.

#6) As you say, it should be almost certain that EITHER Edelman or Thomas will be ready for the Game One roster. That being said, we have Edelman/Thomas, Harry, Dorsett and Harris.

#7) Belichick continues to look for a 5th/backup wide receiver with the signing of Meredith (likely bound for PUP). There is no NEED, but due diligence is a good idea. We have the possibility of Gordon and/or Thomas as the 5th, if we even need five (we should have at least 1 on the Practice Squad).
