Pats exhibition games... does this happen to anyone else?

I watch so I don't get fined ........

I'll be interested in seeing how the Pats divvy up the numbers for the practice game with the Lions. I'm sure Jacobi Meyers won't be wearing 69, JWilliams won't be 51 and Stidham won't be 58. ;)

I start to watch .... but when a commercial comes on, i channel surf and forget to go back

I skip preseason games and look at twitter feeds after the game is over to see if anyone who matters got injured.

Still traumatized by the final 1986 preseason game.

That was definitely the worst one, followed by the third one of 2017.......

Took my nephew to the first preseason game of 2014 down here (MD) against the Redskins. There were two undrafted rookies that night wearing #29 that night. One was Jonas Gray the other was some CB who was flying all over the field and had me telling my nephew afterwards that I now had my 2014 “binky”. And he remained my 2014 binky right through the moment he made the single greatest play in Boston sports history six months later.

.

I've never been much of a pre season fan ... but I do watch.
If you're a fan of the off tackle play - pre season is for you.

No this doesn't happen to me at all.

Provided that the Patriots won the Super Bowl the previous season:

1. I practice memorizing every number 30 minutes before the game. By the time the game starts I pretty much remember every number.

2. I have my laptop opened up on the wikipedia page of the team the Patriots are playing for reference on who just lost to who.

3. I home in on who I'm interested in.

4. After the game I may watch it again if someone else stood out according to reports and see how well the player did.

If the Patriots didn't win the Super Bowl, I ain't watching ****. **** the NYJFL* and the corrupt 32.

Despite the looooong wait I'll have had from watching any NEW Patriots live action, this happens to me... almost every time.

1. I'm all psyched beforehand... settle in with a nice glass of bourbon. Neat. :)

2. Watch the first series. Who the heck are these guys.

3. Watch the SECOND series. Who the heck are THESE guys.

4. Start messing around on the iPhone.

5. Turn off the TV before halftime.

 Wow, those aren't the sentiments of a diehard fan. I love watching the first three preseason games from start to finish. It's the first opportunity to get a sense of new players individually and in various combinations, what their potential might be and who you might be drawn to root for making the team. Preseason is unique that way, where player evaluation means more than winning -- a fun, different way to enjoy the game.

Thanks! That’s so sweet of you to say.
Here's motivation for you to watch these games. Do you really want to trust the media with their own agenda's and clickbaiting garbage? Why subject yourself to their lies when you can evaluate the players yourself and get a true understanding of where the players are at?

I sense sarcasm.

Not trying to hurt your feelings, just a bit surprised by your post. Might it be the bourbon?

Either that, or start a thread on a team message board declaring your casual fandom by expressing disdain for preseason games. ;)

See, now, you’re just being cruel... or maybe you discovered my bourbon stash and you’re one of those mean drunks . :)

Fauria drives me crazy on a number of levels.

He acts younger and less knowledgeable than he is.. he and Zolak drive me nutz, the latter because when Bertram is trying to spout some sort of conspiracy BS, Zolak often seems to walk out of the room.. why don't guys with a lot of Pats knowledge speak up over the sports talk babble??

My issue is that I cut the cable "cord" and now am a Fire TV newbie, still trying to figure out the local channel stuff... but the weather has been too nice to work on that, where is a rainy day when I need it??

I watch. I like seeing the new guys. Before the game I'll read up on the new players and will have my laptop open with the player roster and twitter feed running. I do dislike the announcing guys. Bob's Discount aren't doing themselves any favors; they'd be better off with straight ads during the breaks.

I LOVE the pre-season. It's the first chance to see new players (sometimes the last chance too!) Yes, @shmessy is right that the Edelman injury was gutting, and the Pats' broadcasters are embarrassing compared with some other teams' (I remember Lynch doing an excellent job in Tampa, and the Lions, Saints and Redskins broadcasts being good too.)

I guess I'm the exception. If there's a football, I'm watching. Football junkie to the core. I usually shut off the audio feed, even on regular games. The announcing is so poor, not only in pre-season but especially during the regular season. Only Romo will I listen to. Collingsdoogstuff & Michaels are impossible for anyone with an IQ greater than 25 to take for more than a nano-second.

Well, I've seen many otherwise stout souls fall victim to demon bourbon. That is why I only drink craft dry ciders without sulfites made from locally grown apples. Besides all that, I never get drunk and have no idea where you live or hide your stash.

Should be seeing their actual numbers the day before or the day of the first PS game based on what happened last year.
