Bleacher report top 25 QBs of all time

The list got 1 right and 2-25 wrong.

At least they got Unitas on there.

Otto Graham
Bobby Layne
Sammy Baugh
Bart Starr
Bob Waterfield
Norm Van Brocklin

And there are plenty of others that I probably would not place in the top 25, but would still rank higher than Alex Smith, Carson Palmer, etc., such as:
Fran Tarkenton
Y.A. Tittle
Ken Stabler
Len Dawson
Daryle Lamonica
John Hadl
Dan Fouts
Was it click bait, or genuinely uneducated?

That other list is so off the charts that it has to be click bait. Plus, nobody could be that uneducated.

I had Waterfield on my computer list but I didn't have his information. I'll have to work on that.

Waterfield was before my time (thankfully), but I recall reading some very positive things about his play, specifically in comparison to his peers.

I'm going to give them credit and say that an argument could be made for 2 of the 25 picks (Montana-3, Unitas-5).

I kept 4 lists of the top ten clutch QB's from before Brady won his last three SB's. One of the 4 came from BR and this was it;

Elway
Montana
Brady
Unitas
Marino
Stabler
P Manning
Staubach
Young
Starr

Nobody else had Marino or Elway so near the top or Starr as close to the bottom and BR was the only one who had P Manning on their list at all.

Any top QB list that doesn't begin with Brady, Montana, Starr, and Graham (the order of the latter 3 can be debated) is an automatic fail. I would be begrudgingly accepting of the Fivehead getting the 5th spot, he did at least have one 2nd half of one post-season game where he didn't crap his pants.

Perfect. If someone were to rank Unitas up there I wouldn’t throw a fit. I’d put the top like this:

1a. Brady (GOAT expansion era)
1b. Graham (GOAT pre-expansion era)
3. Montana
4. Starr
5. Unitas
6. Baugh
7. Staubach

Now it’s kind of a dog fight with Fivehead, Elway, Marino, etc. Case could be made for Young as well. I didn’t forget Favre...he just wasn’t that great.

There is no argument that Montana is anything but 2 imo

You have 4 of your top 7 from eras where the running game was much more important than the passing game and another where it was still at least more important.
I don’t know how of you are but it would seem you probably never saw close to or more than half of your first 7 play.

neither is fran tarkenton and dan fouts

Well to be fair his announcing career alone should keep him off any list. The value he brought by being able to watch him on the field has been undone ten fold to what he has done to my ears and brain. Just sayin...

Is this real or some kid put together a cool looking chart of his favorite QBs?

Bart Starr isn't on the list but Alex Smith and Carson Palmer are?

Yeah, Bart Star is still the greatest Packers QB and it is not even close. To not have him on the list is an absolute joke. And I love Drew but please. And Alex Smith and Carson Palmer. Who made this list, some 14 year old girl?

I don’t buy that crap at all....nothing to do with playing

Just looking at that list makes it obvious the authors were born well after your postername.

C'mon, no Sid Luckman, Otto Graham or Sammy Baugh.

Those kids should learn the meaning of "all time".

Hell, Bledsoe was better than Phil Simms.

Why these people don't just put in a cutoff time is a question for the ages. "Super Bowl era" is a pretty good cutoff, because it covers some of the old greats, but gets us to a time where more footage is available. Sure, you lose the Grahams and Baughs that way, and you'll still have to do some extrapolating and backfilling with the likes of Starr and Unitas, but it acknowledges the incompleteness, and it makes a lot more sense than having "all time" lists without their likes being on them.

Honestly the best part of the list

(17) Brett Favre
(18) Aaron Rodgers

:D

And how is grogan not on this list?

Brady’s too low..
